Another view of Horse Pen Bay. This is a 300 or so acre wetland loved by deer, turkey, small game, fish, alligators, waterfowl and this hunter.
I watched the biggest river otter I’ve ever seen right there in deer season the day before we duck hunted.
He was a more successful fisherman than us.

Know what you mean Dave:D
This one’s going the long run. I can promise you.
It probably sounds silly, but I can’t even leave it in the garage with my other stuff. It’s laying on a deer hide in my upstairs “man room”. 😀
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #8815Great shots Bunyan!
I’d like to go through your whole library sometime.
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #8775Great photos Dave!
I have millions saved on my webshots page but they just changed the system and I have to figure out how to re-save the photos to my computer. I’ll figure it out and post some more.
Love seeing pictures of different scenery and LOVE traveling to alien places.
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #8572Finally, this is a photo of the typical habitat at Blackbeard Island.
Massive live oaks and some hickories with pure palmetto understory.
Dissecting the island at many places are huge savannahs of grasslands.
I hunted all of these places this year, plus one other area in extreme southwest GA, but the habitat there is much the same as that found around my southeast ga club.
I feel very blessed after these last 365 days!
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #8568This is a shot of one of the monster water oaks that lives at tuckahoe wildlife management area in southeast GA.
It does have some pine uplands but is largely massive swamp bottoms. These trees are old as the dirt and roving bands of switchcane make these swamps hard to navigate.
Sorry for the rifle in the photo. It was for scale.
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #8567This is just a beautiful autumn shot from my N GA club.
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #8566This is a picture from my club in southeast GA. It’s flat with sandy soils and is mostly made up of loblolly pines with thick, briar understory. The hardwoods along the creeks are scrubby water oaks and the swamps are filled with tupelo and cypress. As you can see, spanish moss lives on everything that will climb.
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #8565Next is a picture from true N GA. This is the area of the Chattahoochee National Forest where we bear hunt.
It’s very steep with rocky, loam soils. It’s mostly made up of hardwood stands with some mature virginia pines and a lot of mountain laurel and rhododendron.
Steep and big country.
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #8563Next is a picture of the creek that forms a boundary on my north ga hunt club. This club is on the foothills of the mountains. It’s pretty steep and is mostly made up of loblolly pines with hardwood draws along the creeks. The soil is a loamy clay and this creek is loaded with smallmouth bass.
It’s about thirty minutes from my house.
in reply to: Anyone eat coyote? #8560Rabbit and squirrel are super tough (to me) if you don’t boil them for an hour or so first. Usually I boil them until fork tender and then flour and fry.
Might work for a song dog too.

That is a beautiful bow Etter!!
I like the trad look of yarn balls and I haven’t found anything that works as well as them.
Plus, I don’t want you to say that I followed you:D
in reply to: Anyone eat coyote? #8471I applaud you on giving it a shot!
I keep an extra shooting tab but that’s usually it.
When we go to blackbeard island, I bring an extra string.
Question for you guys:
Do you carry a bow square too? How else would you know if you got your brace height and nocking point correct? I know most of my strings are twisted 20-50 times and if it gets off, itll go out of tune.
