in reply to: Trail cam time again #58059
I have two stealth cams. They’re cheap and reliable. Not the best night shots, but they’re great on batteries and seem to really hold up well.
in reply to: High FOC Vs. Speed #56971It seems to me that it would be very hard to shoot an arrow that heavy, very accurately.
For me, it would be, anyway.
in reply to: Trail cam time again #56969We didn’t put up a trail cam today but my buddy Lackey took a phone video of one of the three bears we saw today. It stood on its hind legs several times to check us out.
in reply to: Low Poundage FOC #56251I’d say worry more about your accuracy than FOC. It would be hard to shoot an arrow accurately if it drops 6″ every 5 yards.
Love hearing about the experiments though.
in reply to: Trail cam time again #56240Is that a bobcat on a deer carcass of yours? Fantastic picture!
in reply to: Trail cam time again #56115Awesome shots. I’m heading to the mountains tomorrow for the first bear scouting mission. Maybe I’ll set mine up. Bears are so tough on em though….
in reply to: Washer Weights? #56114What a difference 30 grains can make. I’ve been shooting 170 grain field points (because that’s what I have). I shot my 190 grain tree sharks a few times to make sure they flew the same and they did, but every once in a while, I got some fishtailing with the 170 points. I bought 200 grain fp’s and washers for the broadheads so I’d shoot 200 up front. The bow is significantly quieter and the arrows are flying even better.
That widow is FAST and now it’s really ready for the season.
in reply to: Just playing the waiting game now #55011Good chance I’ll be getting one of your EDB’s from Lackey on sunday.
in reply to: Just playing the waiting game now #52602Looking really good bro.
Can’t wait to see it all skinned up!
in reply to: kme sharpener #51539Great sharpener. I use it for all of my heads and knives. It is the best thing I’ve used for concave heads like simmons. I even tried the one that simmons sells and it doesn’t work as well.
in reply to: Washer Weights? #51532Thanks for the info guys.
I’m really happy with the setup as it is, but wanted to get a few more grains up front and wondered if there was a way to do that without messing up my arrow flight on my widow.
I feel very confident in its lethality.
in reply to: Heat gun glue for arrows? #51524I use it for my inserts in carbons with excellent results.
in reply to: PTSD and the 4th of July #45918Both of my grandfathers are war heros to me.
My father’s father received a purple heart for his service in Korea. When he came back, he was never the same. For the last thirty years of his life, he never left his house.
My mother’s father lied about his age at 16 and saw the flag raised on Iwo Jima. He’s still alive and doing well, but I always wondered why we would take him to japanese restaurants when he visited. I would think a bunch of flames and a japanese guy throwing knives around would be a problem for him.
When listening to their stories, I’m just amazed that anybody can go through that. It’s probably my greatest fear.
Fireworks are getting rained out here. I’m glad. Can’t stand going to watch em.

Hey now, don’t be lumping Uncle Booger’s Bumper Dumper in with those ridiculous items.
I gotta agree there. Between that and the spork, it’s one of the few things that keeps my respect for humanity going. Going where is a different story, but still…
Besides, you know the only reason that warning is on there is that someone tried it!
Be well.
Alex
😆
Now, don’t be dumping on the spork. If you’ve ever been backpacking, the spork (or foon) will become your best friend.
in reply to: PTSD and the 4th of July #45853There have been some great documentaries on PTSD lately on HBO. In fact, the late , James Gandolfini, was the lead interviewer on one of them. One documented PTSD all the way back to civil war letters. It’s terrifying what war can do to a person. We’re just not made to do that sort of thing.
Thanks to everybody who has.
