These shows are for nothing less than promoting the products then endorse, plain and simple IMHO.
Its enough to make me sick.
I started to watch a show yesterday morning, and just had to flip the channel and eventually turned off the TV. I instead picked up the copy of have of Traditional Bowhunter Magazine and begun re-reading it again – NOW that is about REAL Bowhunting!
I just threw away 21 DVD’s as I did not want to pass along this crap they call bowhunting, when most if not all of the footage is what I call staged.
Aaaah now to get some real traditional bowhunting DVD’s.

Do a bit a research on the crossbow and you’ll discover they were used for war, not hunting and were a failure at that over the longbow. Look at the bolts that were used back in the midevil times, the points were designed for armor penetration. The crossbow was not a hunting weapon however.

I’m really sorry that I had to miss this event, I was looking forward to going, but my daughter is so close to delivering her first child, another grand child for us, that I decided to hang tuff around Kalispell so I could be available upon a moments notice.
I did utilize the time, into vesting some time into my uncle who had never shot a traditional longbow before. He has had my 45# Selfbow since, but I got to collect it up for camp next week.
So maybe we will cross trails another time.
in reply to: Multitool Suggestions #16273Here is what I carry bowhunting, the multi tool is an unknown name but it has a serated blade that has a file on it, flat edge and file, bottle/can opener, with a small philips head screw driver, regular knife blade and pliers that is nice and thin, but very strong. I can carry this with my sharpening tool as well (upgrading this item). The carry case I got at Home Depot in the tools section.

in reply to: Leaving you with regret….. #15389Steve – T Downing posted the verse I would have posted. Buddy we will keep you lifted up in prayer. I will be gone all next week teaching at the MT Youth Bowhunter Camp, but will be praying every day for God’s intervention into your situation.
I bind this with my fellow brothers in Christ here, as a matter of urgency.
Hit http://www.klove.com on line and put it up for prayer there to.

No Simmons Sharks are serrated period. Here is the link. http://www.simmonssharks.com/node/2
Also go to the Gallery and look at the game tested on, and notice the Water Buffalo in Africa taken with a 165 gr Land Shark.
Call Dave and he can tell you the story on her harvest with the 165 gr on that Water Buffalo.
I’m not defending here, but these are good heads.
But there are equally as good of broadheads on the market as well.
in reply to: Simmons Land Shark or Interceptor broadheads #15213I didn’t hunt with them, but just tested them in my “Other” modern bow when I had it. They flew fine, but if I could of used the 165 gr SB-20 Land Sharks, I would of bought those. They have a width of 1 9/16ths, and are Dave Oligee’s most sought after broadhead.

You provide the smoke, they will provide the drums.

He had tested a modern BowTech but did not like all the extra cost associated with buying a bare modern bow. His girlfriend had told him, look if your going to get into archery/bowhunting, at least get into the real traditional kind 🙄 She was dead set against him buying a modern bow, and well now I think he will have her full blessings.
Its funny how putting one in their hands, and having them shoot and see results, encourages getting into Traditional longbows or recurves. Dan was stoked that my bows are longbows.
It just so happens the Bear Kodiak that I was using, I had to return to our Fish Wildlife and Parks Bowhunters Ed program yesterday.
in reply to: IPad and Traditional Bowhunter #12127I don’t plan on getting one of these gagits, heck my cell phone is a Snapfon with large numbers etc, no camera, no net.. just the basics thank you 😛
