in reply to: Where do you get your tradional supplies from #34435
-3rivers
-Kustom King
Both have excellent shipping times and great inventory. Trad tech has lots more for the target guys but my impression is that you are a primitive guy so you will be disgusted buy most of their stuff.:lol:in reply to: Any other Bear Archery enthusiasts here? #33285Love my Bear cub semi-recurve that was bought for 25 bucks by my father back in 62 or so I think. Its 45#@28 8)
in reply to: Interview with Dave Peterson #32721Just finished the interview Dave Peterson in the Aug/Sep issue of TB. Lots of stuff that I was really impressed with and particularly his logical view on wildlife habitat preservation. Nice to know that their are people like Dave Peterson that help us hunters out so much in the hunting cause and ethical values. 😉
in reply to: Stalk in these? #32131I’m new to this hunting game and only been doing since 07 but I was just wondering what you experienced guys had to say. I would like to get a free pair to try just for my own curiosity. My avatar guy would look crazy in a pair of these babies. People here on the east coast run in them and claim it is much better on your joints then traditional shoes. The soles are like regular shoes and are supposed to fit very tight to prevent a blister but I have no experience. Maybe Mr.Conrad TB would bankroll a pair for me and I will report back…..:lol:
in reply to: Going to Hunt Elk need some advice #30270Not to beat a dead horse but I agree that your set up is much to light for Elk. Personally in my humble opinion I would not hunt elk with anything lighter then 55# and a good machine made steal broad-head. 😉
in reply to: Increase in draw weight. #30255I am a newer archer and I definitely felt a difference in just 5 pounds. Not to scare you off but and easy adjustment for me and I am a healthy 47yr old with no heath issues. As a comparison I do own a 75# @28 but that was a huge jump and it has been a year now and still have to warm up before I shoot it. The reward of a heavier bow is that your shoots will stay on plane longer so less adjustment mentally on the arrow dropping in flight. Also the penetration is better. I aim the same for a 10yrd shoot as I do for a 30yrd shoot with that bow. I say go as high as you can as said by the much more experienced guys on here. 😉
in reply to: A Question of Draw Weight #28765My hunting bow is 50#@28″ but I do have a 75# @ 28 that I can shoot but need to shoot it more. I really like the flight as the aiming is virtually the same from 10 yards to 30 it seems.
in reply to: Target "Boredom" #26915I felt this way on Saturday at my house but when I went to the club to shoot with some new friends it was great and super fun again. A great tip to remember….
in reply to: Please introduce yourselves, I'll start #26906Been on here for a year or so but mostly a lurker. Got into trad archery on 07 and got the bug bad. I have two sons 3 and 5 to which I have been blessed to raise since birth. I am a Stay at home dad by trade and at 47 is a good challenge. Wify is from the Philippines and is my sugar mama. Life is good.
in reply to: Tred Barta UPDATE #14406Nothing going to stop him from hunting. I wish the man well in his recovery.
in reply to: ATAR west va. #55133We went to this shoot last year and it was really fun for both me and my kids and little wify. Very nice area and the lake is swim-able and cool. Lots of targets and the comp course you get a fun ride behind a tractor to the location. Vendors galore with Fred Asbell there too. Fun shots, coon shots and the like.
in reply to: Get off me! #52646Very nice bucket buck! we get them round here all the time….
in reply to: What is the right pull???? #52643My set up for deer is a Samick stingray 50# with GT 55-75 shafts tipped with 175grn terminators. 50# draw weight is pretty standard for deer and such I think. Buy the way you will want and buy many bows as you get into this as a word of warning…
in reply to: Dr. Ashby's Status? #52638I hope to that he gets better and beats whatever aliment he has.
in reply to: Archery Geese and Ducks? #52632In my area you don’t need a blind to take them as they are to numerous and tame. Not much of a challenge but an easy meal if need be. Wife really likes the eggs though. 8)
