in reply to: Coffee on the Rocks #34045Yes those “coffee bags” are good, but the Mexican instant coffee is my fav…
There is a concentrated liquid coffee mix that comes in little plastic packages, really good, different flavours and after sending some to friends serving in Afgan, they report ” MORE please”…I’ve put them on bagels for a super caffine blast, but they are alittle harsh that way…
in reply to: Paleo Site #33394The solutrean/Clovis connection is very interesting, and fodder for many discussions, maybe when there is more underwater archy studies, the dates of human habitation in north America will be pushed back even earlyer…
I could go on for days about this, and other subjects of the “first’ Americans…
To me, a very interesting subject…
in reply to: What Has Messed With Us!! #33294Besides that guy who gets stumble-footed, a case of the sneezes, or drops his arrow to CLANK against the rocks as he closes that final few yards during a stalk (I’m that guy).
I have had everything from owls buzzing me while trying to draw, to humming birds hovering inches from my eyes(attracted by the shine, their beaks look awfull pointy at that range), house cat spooking a buck, not once but twice, either that cat was very hungery and he thought he could take ’em or he had a “little man’complex.. And more that maybe when we get know each other better, I’ll break-down and share jehehehe…

I just left another hunting site(7years, 1000posts) because of the, what I feel, was a loss of respect for the land and the animals that make what we do a deeper connection then just the score of the critters we chase…
Thank You TradBow, and it’s members, for having this site where there are folks that have that love, passion and respect…
in reply to: AR opener… #32899NICE!!! Way to get it Done…
Looks like your still in “Hunt Mode” hehehe…
in reply to: Falcon/Hawk ID #32308Thank you very much… Now ‘he” has a name, “Coop”, for the next visit when I describe “him” to my non-hunting GF…
I would agree that the “old” style is way better for blood trailing and even just walking through rough terrain, the LED lights tend to mess with my depth perception…
We used to use an old style Colemen gas lamp with a shade to block the back of the glass, it was awesome for night time blood trailing…
Thanks for the thread…

in reply to: Falcon/Hawk ID #32081Thanks for the ID… This guy has been hanging around for awhile, but this morning was the first ‘photo op” he gave me…
We get folks from around the world filling their “Life Lists” for rare birds, Madera Canyon is a place that has many birds that can only be seen during the winter months in the US…(Madera Canyon is also the place I hunt alot, and there are some critters that have moved north that can only be seen there, civic cats, ocelot, coatimondi, and some crazy insects)
in reply to: Meat bags? #31915Never tried them, but it seems a good idea as I just wrap boned-out meat into a shamag and tie it to the outside of my pack. I first lay the boned-out meat over a rock in the shade so it “skins” over so it’s not wet before being wrapped…
in reply to: Velvet Coues #31773Hehe DocNock, I was using the touch-pad and double posted, I dont know how to delete, so another boring pic of the Mt’s…
That dang aging thing is already happening, sometimes I spot great deer, but cant get to them due to distance, rougher terrain, etc. I do pass on this info to others with the younger legs… getting old isnt for wimps…
