Are you are tired of trying to keep track of your shooting tab? Here is a little trick that I use. Sew a thin, 6-inch piece of Velcro to the top portion of the finger hole on the tab. When you are finished shooting, fasten the Velcro around an arrow in your bow quiver as I do, or cut the Velcro a little longer and wrap it around the limb of your bow.
I have never misplaced a tab this way, and I know right where it is every time I pick up my bow. Just be sure to remove the tab and fasten it to your hand before you start hunting! Nothing scares animals more than the r-r-rip of Velcro!
Good tip. I tell my students that the ONLY place for your tab is on your hand or in your pocket when out with the bow, NO WHERE ELSE!! When putting your equipment away for the day, the tab ALWAYS goes to the same spot. The easiest archery equipment item to loose is the tab, but that is largely just carelessness and not paying attention to what you are doing.
I simply put my arrow through the finger hole in the tab and place my arrow in the bow quiver with the tab above the arrow clip. Can’t go anywhere and it is always with your bow and arrows.
Great tip! I alway carry two (yes, two!) extra tabs in my pack because I’m always misplacing them.
Here’s a tip from Tim Roberts:
Another way to keep from settling into your favorite blind, or stand, only to realize that your tab is back at the truck…when done hunting simply pull the lead/first arrow from the gripper and place the finger hole of the tab over the slot on the gripper and put the arrow back in place.
From someone who made a living for 17 years selling hunting and fishing gear, these are all lousy ideas!
…except of course this brilliant gentleman who buys three of them. He’s my kind of guy!
Spares are a good thing outside…and they helped keep me from going hungry on the inside,
I use a back quiver. I take one loop of my arm guard through the finger hole in the tab and then hook it so the tab is attached to the guard, then I take the loop at the other end of the guard and run it around the arrows below the fletching and hook it up also. Tab & arm guard stay with the arrows in the quiver. I do have a couple of home-made spare tabs but they never see any use…..
I put both of my tabs (always have a spare) on my bow quiver behind the first arrow near me until I set in my stand then put one on, the extra in my jacket or shirt pocket. Stays with my bow no matter what
