Yes Duncan it is a take down. I use a T-nut in the limb and run the bolt from the belly side of the riser to hold the limb in place. I’ve never liked the looks of the limb bolt showing. This way the bolt is trapped in the riser so it doesn’t get lost too.

I can’t think of too many things that bring as big a smile to my face as the smile on a child’s face when they first get and shoot their new bow. Way to go dad!

You self-bow guys drive me crazy. You must not drink any coffee or you have nerves of steel. I love the looks of them but they are way over my head. Great job!

Ed you take care of yourself. As much as we enjoy your reports, your health is more important. Take care.

Steve most of it is mdf except the thicker part that the bearings are bolted to which is 2 layers of 1/2″ plywood. The drum is 5″ circles made of 3/4 mdf using a hole saw and glued together. I have a friend who gave me a 24″ drum from a sander he replaced that I will use to build a bigger sander with. I got the plans online from PlansNow.

Holten101 I haven’t had a chance to build one myself so I can’t answer that for sure but I think it would be much better than just the velcro. I’m planing on putting some rubber on the inside of the leather myself. BTW my email is forlogons at gmail dot com if you want the plans
