in reply to: "Holy" Ground #18796Since I started hunting a few years back, I would say it is the property I hunt on. It is in the foot hills of the Laurel Mountains in pretty Western PA. The western part of the property is my favorite to sit in. Nice Maple, Oaks, and Hickories. It is just so peaceful in the early mornings and evening at that spot. When I close my eyes and think of the hunting season, that is my image…
Until the freaking neighbor comes trotting by on her horse!!
She knows now to stay the heck out of my area during Oct-Jan:evil:
Anyway, that is my “Holy Grounds” at this point in my life.8)
in reply to: Another Article #18786This is why I posted this article. I wanted to get opinions on the authors view.
Thats why I love this site. 8)
in reply to: Another Article #18785dwc, I agree with your view. I also see the point the author of the article was getting across. I am not a trophy hunter either, but I like horns. But, I like meat even more. I too, do not agree with ways animals are taken.
I just wanted to give the author his due respect. He had a very good point. I agree with him in a lot of ways.
A lot of people do not have an open view and are bias to their own belief. 8)
in reply to: Just funny. #18782Mike, sending now
Wose, congrats. I am in my second year with 100% trad. I almost had a few last year, but the stars were not in line.
I hope to take my first deer today! 😆 I am going out tonight on this wet PA opening day!
Anyway. You sound just like me, I appretiate the help from all the “old guys” and all the books/internet info out there.
Congrats again on our doe!8)

Very good to listen to while relaxing at work.8)
I always enjoy Dave’s opinion on hunting and conservation.
He keeps me in check.
I like the “Horn Porn” magazine comment!
I stopped all my subscritions to all those mags last year when I got into trad.

in reply to: 2015 mast and fruit crop outlook #49136Not sure if Walnuts are an important sign, but our new property has 7 very old/healthy walnut tres and they have a TON on nuts!
The apple and pear trees are doing real well too! Lots of deer signs at the fruit trees already!8)
in reply to: CAMO OR NOT who is the fool ? #47340I believe COL Mike said that being still is the best camo.
I agree.
I like green/brown/autumn color paid wool. Although, I still wear camo on occasion.
There was a great article in the PA game news paper last week about what deer see. Basically stay away from blue! It reflects UV rays and makes it easy for them to see. And oh ya, and stay still!8)
