in reply to: When and why do you replace your glove? #45701
I usually don’t replace my glove until I notice a hole worn into one of the finger tips.
Eric Willin reply to: What do you like best about Bowhunting? #45698As with everyone else I don’t have one answer.
Bowhunting, Traditional bowhunting especially presents a simpler less cumbersome time alone in the woods. Each time I hunt, or for that matter just go out to shoot, one thing I like to do is put my footprint somewhere visible. I then think about all those who have hunted the same area with similar simple tools such as mine and left their footprints.
Most importantly, this time allows me to appreciate the greatness of God the creator and His grace. Grace that has given me the ability to walk where I walk, see what I see, hear what I hear, smell what I smell.
Eric Willin reply to: FACEPAINTERS ONLY #27339Carbomask,
This is the only facepaint I use. I was really glad to discover it a few years ago. I hate the old greasy stuff that you find in most retail stores. You need soap and hot water to clean it off. With carbomask I usually dip my hanky in the nearest creek on the way out of the woods to wash my face. It’s that simple.
Ericin reply to: The Running Woodsman #13844I’ve seen quite a few things that I could talk about. One in particular: a cold drizzly morning on stand in PA with nothing moving for hours. Out of the corner of my eye something draws my attention. Walking on a log is a bobcat close enough to count the spots with a naked eye. That was pretty cool itself, but the kicker is that it was carrying lunch between it’s teeth in the limp form of a squirrel. I watched until I couldn’t see it anymore. What a blessing!

most importantly, they fly great out of my navajo scout.in reply to: Slower is Faster #63691Hi, I’m new to the site and have enjoyed the different forum topics I’ve read. That being said I wanted to leave my less than two cents worth here.
I also have been learning to slow down in my days afield. I have hurried too often, and too often been busted. I have found that even when I am roving alone, that if I put myself in what I call “hunting mode”, I tend to concentrate harder, and then shoot better.
When I am still hunting, one thing that has helped me slow down, and as a result see more deer, is when I stop & force myself to wait a little longer when I get that feeling to move on. I don’t have a set amount of time I wait. I just tell myself… wait a little longer. It is really hard to do sometimes.
I hope that makes sense. Usually I have my wife edit my stuff so that I sound more intelligent than I am. -
