I understand what you mean, and I wish I could explain my desire but I can’t. I think the best I can do is say that my love for wild pigs is like the love David Peterson has for Elk, and the Wensel brothers have for Whitetails.

Gonna have to move to Georgia…

Great pics! Ecspecially of the pig, I swear I almost wept tears of envy. I’d trade my Moose tag for a crack at free range piggies like that any day…

Congrats on the hunt. Can’t wait to see some pics of that big sow. 😀

Good video. I am impressed you can spot them carp, at first I thought you were shooting at rocks!

Also just curious if the Buck seen at second 3 in the video is the same one that you just arrowed? I couldn’t say for certain but the racks looked eeerily similiar.

Good luck Nate. Bring us back some backstraps, and a porkupine if you could. Always wanted to eat a porkupine…

I have never heard of a custom string keeper, or someone who makes such. I have always just used an elastic band.

If you do succeed in finding a couple, please post a pic or two. I am curious as to what they would look like.

Awww man Will’s smile says it all, and put a big smile on my face! Thanks so much for sharing, and thank you Troy and all those who donated. Things like this mean so much.

Congrats Chris! Did you bag that gorgeous buck with your Deermaster?

                    Right on man, right on!

Mostly I just find an established game trail with a bit of fresh sign (tracks, scat etc) and plop my stool down in the shade and wait. Only change I made to compensate for the bow was to plop my stool down a bit closer to the trail than normal.

                        Great picture Dave!

As far as game cameras go, I would love to own/use one. The main reason being that several Deer on Grandad’s property have marks on them that look like they survived a Cougar attack. Would love to get a picture of the cat/creature responsible. And maybe snap a pic of our trespassing nieghbors too :(.

For me being in Bear country in the early and late hours is always un-nerving, all the more so since we have an expanding Grizzly population. But what gives me the jeebies more than Bears are the Wolves. I see Wolves far more often and hear them damn near every night during the Autumn. As far as the lack of documented attacks in North America goes, reading the tales from Europe are warning enough. And ever since that unfortunate surveyor was killed in Saskatchewan, those eery howls seem all the more menacing. More than once the howl of Wolves has made me look at my longbow and wonder “Why the hell am I carrying this silly thing?”

Looks real good, feathers and grip both. And judging by your group I’d say them Kansas snakes are in a heap of trouble 😯 .

With a few ounces of line you can tie a whole quarter on (caribou and elk anyway–moose are another story.) If you’ve boned everything in the field, you can do the same with a good game bag and a few basket hitches. You don’t really need the pack bag–just more weight and hassle. A chest strap and a padded belt will make the process a whole lot more comfortable. Wildschwein, check all the fittings on that Cabelas pack. The pins on the one I had were made of cheap metal and several failed on me. Unfortunately, I was 25 miles back in the Brooks Range when that happened. I improvised with something and got camp out, but that was my last pack from them. I don’t know where they get the “guides” who field test there “Alaska Guide Models.” Los Angeles, maybe. Don

Yikes! Thanks for the heads up Dr. Thomas, I’ll give the pack a good going over.

Nope, but I did shoot the mushroom out of a Squirrels mouth ! And yes it was intentional (thats my story and I’m sticking to it).
