in reply to: What happens to your string at release #36471
Wow…I didn’t notice the arrows in the bow quiver till you pointed that out….no wonder a bow quiver can add a little noise sometimes!
in reply to: Help my poor shoulder please! #33956Keep your shoulder low and back (in line with the other). Keep a slight bend in the bow arm. Hard to tell what you are doing, but if you lock out that arm and have the shoulder at a bad angle all that force just goes right to the joint.
in reply to: 2013 hunting rigs #32856I have spend the last 3 weeks shooting about an hour a day. Just working on form and my anchor/ release. Sometimes with eyes closed….sometimes open but trying not to aim. Going to keep it up for another week and start tuning my broadheads. We’ll see if it pays but I suspect it will.

in reply to: Great Plains Longbows #12546My Brother has a Great Plains long curve. It is not longer made but is a recurve with a longbow handle. He loves it….killed a lot of critters with it.
in reply to: Fletching color #11341in reply to: My Schulz! #10283in reply to: Bow to heavy? #9446Schulz described how Howard taught him and his brother Dan to train to draw heavy bows in his book. He describes taking a heavy bow and puilling it back 1/3 draw for 5 seconds and holding. Then to 1/2 darw and hold for 5 seconds, Then full draw for 5 seconds….then reverse the sequence back down to rest.
in reply to: My Schulz! #9181Here are a couple of some other fellas Schulz. Notice how small the tips are!

Ok, the front can be a little deceiving because someone refinished the Schulz and put on horn overlays. John would never have done that as he did all he could to make the tips as light as possible:
Notice also how small the wedge between the lams is:
You should see some of the later bows John built. I have seen some tips next to pencils and dimes making them look huge. Really slender….
