Way cool –did you make or purchase your bowhunters knife&tool Kit?
Scout
I purchased it. There are a few online stores that sell them currently.
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #51853It comes with a knife, file, Norton stone, and P38 can opener.
I carry:
My old file (partial to the larger wood handle)
Glue stick
Diamond hone
Pencil for completing license
Hunting License
Zip ties for tags & field dressing
Extra eclipse with bear bleeders
Knife
And P38 can opener (kept it in there but may put something else in that pocket?)

in reply to: what quivers do you prefer? #37536I guess I am in the minority here….but that is typical for me:P
Get skilled in the use of a backquiver and it can aid your hunting.
in reply to: Best Fletching Cement? #19783I like regular old loctite superglue from the hardware store. Fast and strong and bonds well to any medium….including my fingers !
in reply to: Correct brace hight for longbows #11713Mine shot well at 6 1/2 with B-50.
in reply to: Correct Spine of Aluminum for Longbow #63865Depends on what type of “longbow” you have and how far it is cut to center. I shoot a 2016 out of my 53# Hill bow with 125 grain point…. a R/D bow would be much different (stiffer)
in reply to: Correct brace hight for longbows #63860I have the same bow…same specs. 3″ shorter is it!
in reply to: 1st time Colorado Elk hunting! #55992I actually use an ultra-light hiker pack from G0-Lite. I use a 3 person kelty tent so I can sleep with my gear out of the weather. I do have a cabelas extrenal frame pack but that frame stays in the truck unless i need to pack out meat. I take the first load in the go-lite and return with the frame empty. I learned a lesson with going as light as possible.

Have a blast…you will be hooked!
On the subject of gear what type of tent and pack would you all suggest. I was thinking a one man maybe two man bivy tent and thinking an internal frame pack. But read a lot of good things about external frames.

This one is a WWII knife carried by my great uncle George and saw service in the Pacific on 2 different carriers:
and this is my current hunting knife. It was homemade (probably from a file) and has been handed down in my family for generations.
