Country or farm pigeons are good but stay clear of any pigeon within 2-4 miles of a larger city or town, they taste off, kind of like eating bullheads or gadwall at the wrong time of year, they taste like what they eat. I cook mine just like a dove.

But when the tourney started and there was scoring involved, man, I could not get to full draw on a bet. Discouraging but I ain’t quitting. I just gotta quit worrying about doing correctly what I already know how to do methinks. Maybe pay my fees and not even get a score card next time and see what happens.
R2,
you may think about trying what I did listed above. I can’t remember where i got it from but I do know I read it some where. it really helped me to change my muscle memory and form for shooting. if you try it and you still have the target panic go back to it until your system is automaticly puasing for a count of 1 or 2 before release. i have also read that some folks change from right hand to left hand shooting to remedy, or left to right.
good luck

Would love to see a picture of your hat, I like old hats, and the bows you made. Of course in a new topic as webmother suggested.:D
Welcome and enjoy your time here

in reply to: Target Panic #31966When my accuracy and arrow flight became a problem because of target panic I made a large target and stood about 3 feet from it concentrated on the spot I wanted to hit then closed my eyes drew the bow, concentrating on my form, to full draw hit my anchor held a count of 2 then released. It took a week and a half at 15 to 20 minutes a day of this before I shot at a target with my eyes open. What it did for me was let my mind concentrate on my movements all the way to full anchor and hold for the count of 2 to ensure stabilize my bow arm and release cleanly so my draw hand ended right behind my right ear. It really helped me to get past my target panic. I still do the exercise once in a while just to reinforce.
Good luck

in reply to: Cover photo of latest TB magazine #20078I have one of their double rovers, good quality for the price.
Might be more than what some want to spend, but I’ll be wearing mine for many more years than I will any of the fancy fleece jackets that are out there…. Unless of course, my wife doesn’t give it back.

I had my flights booked two months ago … and then good old Untied Airlines cancelled one flight in each direction, making the trip totally untenable. Nor can I afford to drive due to gas prices (like the airlines, another example of unregulated capitalism having gottten so out of control it now works against more of us than it works for).
What I’ll miss most is getting to see old friends and allies in the good fight, and meeting new ones. Go if you can. BHA’s grassroots structure offers each of us a rare opportunity to stand for something we believe in, and not have to stand alone.
It’s not very good business to cancel a flight and not work with the person to get them a different arrangement, even if it is with another airline.
I’m still hoping to get my work schedule set so I’m able to make it.

I have a 9×12 wall tent and a 15×15 pyramid tent for a base camp. The pyramid is the easiest and fastest of the two to set up and take down. I made a take down 4×4 post for a one pole support for the pyramid and can have it put together, tent staked out and up in 15 minutes, then it’s just a bit of tweaking to tighten the base.
For summer time camping at shoots or just a weekend getaway I use our 4 man green river. For back packing I have a 2 man with the nylon floor and ground sheet with screened top and a fly to keep the rain out. With 2 people it gets a little condensation on the short walls but with one person I haven’t noticed any condensation in the mornings. Any dampness in the air will obviously be transferred into the tent but if the air is dry it is dry.
Good luck

It looks great on the website but does it become “blocky” at 15yds+ like so many patterns?

If your talking about shirts and jackets from classic sportsman fine woolen clothing, I have a double rover jacket and love it. My wife steals it to wear, when she can get to it before me, for our late fall or early spring forays out to the farm.
Mine doesn’t seem to get blocky at close range. It may be a bit more “distinct” at close range for something that sees in color, but my friend, who can only see yellow in color, says it is just as good at breaking up my outline as any of the camo he has seen.

in reply to: Game points for FOC arrows #17334I just thought I’d through in my cent and ahalf
I got my 300grn small game thumpers from VPA at raptor-VPA.com. They are a hex head and shoot just as good as the field points I use.
Good luck

I use 100gr. brass glue on/glue in adapters and 160 gr, field points,. Both adapter and point glued in with 5 minute epoxy. If I hit steel, it will bend/break the adapter. I’m thinking of abandoning the weight tube, using JB Weld, and epoxying a 100 gr .243 bullet behind the brass BH adapter.
Bob,
If you want to add more FOC I’d drop the weight tube and use a 275 gran field point. Then pick a broad head that matches the weight of your field point. Just my opinion. Others here may have better suggestions.
Good luck

I’ve seen that show. Delusion or delusional is the correct description. 😆
