in reply to: Paper Tuning Results – 10/4/14 #62488TJ’s book covers paper tuning for tradbows. Says to put paper 6 yds (could be ft typing this from memory, and that don’t work as well as it used to)in front of target. I’ve never tried tuning so close to the paper just stood out 10, 15, then, 20 yds every thing looked good so I ran with it that way. 8)
Had wheely expert tell me that paper tuning should be done at 6yds (again could have said feet), but I just attributed that to computer chip driven stuff like compounds and surface to air missiles.
Seariously though I thought the closer paper tuning was more for compounds that had a faster parodox recovery. 😀
Maybe with the newer hybrid bows close paper tuning is a good thing to do.
I learn something new everyday. That makes me a student…… Right.

Be a bit of both and do as your told and Like it did for me, it’ll come around.
Left handed and one handed….. Very impressive, and I thought I was doing good left handed using both. 8)

in reply to: Would you shoot a bedded animal? #47752To stalk a bedded animal and have the shot to cleanly take that animal at it’s most relaxed state…… Isn’t that the elusive “Gold Monkey” all spot and stalk hunters dream of…..
I just pray I have the sensable judgement to call it a bust if the “Gold Monkey” turns out to be a green tarnished brass knob.
in reply to: New Family Member #43528Labs are my choice for a bird dog also. Although a good well trained pointing dog is a joy to watch work.
She is a pretty one. Congrats. Remember when you find your shoes chewed up that she is just a puppy. 😉
in reply to: Traditional Snowshoes for Hunting #42679I have a pair of Michigan style and a pair of the longer trail type (looks like the Alaskan on your link Bruce). The trail type work best on more open trails in forested areas. The green mountain style I have borrowed from a friend and they worked good in both open trail and sneaking through the trees. I believe for where you live you would enjoy the green mountain style more. Although either style you are choosing from would work great. 😀
But I’ve learned to go with what appeases my sense of traditional style most to be happy.
OORRR, you could get both and have a shoe for two differnt specialty type shoeing.

And again, I don’t trust a “news” report like that for an objective portrayal of what happened any farther than I can toss it.
Agreed brother!!
I detest the “news” almost all I ever hear about is depressing BS they sensationalize just to sell a story.
in reply to: "Hanging out" with a deer #46656Good karma!
