in reply to: Kenosha Bowmen Memorial Day Shoot! #59287
I went to their website and the flyer for this shoot says “no arrows with outserts.” Does that make more sense? I guess I don’t know what an outsert is π but I hope it clears up the questions.
in reply to: Kenosha Bowmen Memorial Day Shoot! #51784Thanks for the info! I also added it to our calendar of events. There are lots of great shoots coming up, so check the calendar to see if there is one in your area.
To submit an event for the calendar, go to the home page and scroll down to see Resources in the left column. Click Submit an Event and fill out the form.
Take care,

I did a quick search and here is what I found on About.com
“There are a number of ways to get the corrosion off your battery posts. Folklore will tell you that you can pour Coca-Cola over your battery to remove the white stuff. This actually does work, but unless you’re cleaning your battery posts on a deserted island with nothing but a supply of Coke, I’d go with a more modern (and clean) method.”
Dennis probably suggested it as a last resort when you are out in the middle of nowhere. π
in reply to: Tips from the old timer #46543Hi Jim,
That is a great idea. We don’t have a compilation, but you might contact Dennis Kamstra and see if he has something like that. His email address is SafariDen@aol.com. He’s a great guy, and a good contact if you ever want to hunt in Africa.
Just to keep this going a bit, let’s pose a question. What was the best tip that Dennis shared? I think my favorite was using cola to clean the battery posts on a vehicle. π―
Hey Joe, I’ve been thinking about you as well, and we all wish you the best in this tough battle. Although this is a “hunting forum” it’s also a place where friends gather and support each other. I don’t think Wolfkill minds us getting a little sidetracked on his thread since you so kindly answered his question. Good luck with the treatments and please tell us where this “mother of all hunting trips” will take you. Inquiring minds want to know! π
in reply to: A Lesson Well Learned #45969Great piece, Rory! Thanks for sharing.
in reply to: Helle knife kit #29842For those of you who missed it, here is one of the knives that Chad donated to the PBS auction held last weekend in Portland, Oregon. Thanks, Chad for supporting the club even though you couldn’t be there. I hate it when life gets in the way of having fun! π
in reply to: Helle knife kit #29488Chad sent me the images and instructions and I will post them here. If you have questions though, you should probably contact Chad. I’m just the messenger. π

in reply to: backpack hunting guides #26136Hi Jordo and welcome to the campfire. π
I think we might need more information about what you are looking for in a “backpack” hunt. Any specific animal or state you are interested in? You might check out this thread by Amoose or send him a PM. He’s willing to take folks elk hunting in Washington state.
Good luck with your search. Hopefully, some of the other folks will have some ideas.

Moving this thread to the Campfire Forum.
Carry on
in reply to: In need of assistance #13802I have an article I will email you by a guy in Texas who did this. I don’t know if they have “stats”. Maybe a Bowhunter Safety instructor, or the Archery in the Schools Program would have actual numbers or studies. Good luck!
in reply to: Arrow Dynamics arrows, which model? #9607Hello John, and welcome to the forum.
Since your question relates to arrows built along the Ashby guidelines I am moving your thread to the Friends of FOC forum. Hopefully the folks there will be able to help you.
in reply to: FOC, Tieing the threads together #9354You’re welcome David. Troy did all the work, I just made a technical assist. π
