He’s in Nate, and at this rate it’s a pretty sure thing. π Any of your friends in the Gulf are also eligible. Sorry about drill weekend. Isn’t that always the way? Hopefully the elk will still have night blindness by the time you get out there. π
in reply to: Hunt Saboteurs at TBM #18175Oh, you have discovered our plot! *evil laugh*
We are very lucky to have Don Thomas guiding a number of very talented writers. They try to bring exciting stories and good information to our loyal readers. Never had anyone complain about that before. π
in reply to: Elk City Idaho Elk Hunting #17474Hey Todd. Your hunt sounds like fun. I hope you enjoy your time in Idaho and get lots of opportunity to shoot an elk. By the time you get it quartered and back to camp it might already be “smoked”. It’s awful right now but hopefully the air quality will be better when you get here.
in reply to: Donation to Active Duty Military #16340Thanks, Alex. The cost is $20 and you can send the check to:

I am willing to donate these subs to any active (or recently active) service member; guard, local, foreign bases, combat or wounded. I get feedback from many service members that they don’t care which weapon is used, they enjoy the hunting stories. We don’t have to find someone who already likes our magazine, just someone who might enjoy it.
I also have a couple of other avenues, I just wanted to give you guys first crack at it if you knew someone. Nate, isn’t your son in the military?
I also want to thank all of you who have served in the past. T.J. was in the Air Force when we were first married and I know how hard that life is. I appreciate your service, in whatever capacity, because I know the sacrifice each of you made. π

in reply to: Traditional Bowhunting Magazine #50055I think the difference between TBM and other hunting magazines is that we all really hunt with traditional equipment and love to show others how much simpler (and fun) it can be. We “walk the walk”, however, we (Conrads) did not get here alone.
Larry and Belinda Fischer have been our friends and partners since day one and we couldn’t have done it without them. Don (and Lori) Thomas saves our bacon on a regular basis and works very hard to bring you interesting and well-written articles. All of the folks on the masthead, from contributors to Allie in the Subscription office, make Traditional Bowhunter what it is. Advertisers play a HUGE part in bringing this magazine to you on a regular basis, and many of them are also friends. Please support them whenever you can.
in reply to: Traditional Bowhunting Magazine #49512I think a lot of folks would be happy with a monthly magazine…some want it weekly! We publish every other month and I can’t imagine doubling that. I think the content and quality would suffer. So we’ll stay with every other month for the foreseeable future. That’s why the back issues are great. If you are like me I forget what I read six months ago.
Okay, your punishment is to write a 1,000 word essay I can post as a feature article online. π
in reply to: Traditional Bowhunting Magazine #49370Wow! Thanks for all the kind words! π
We feel blessed to have such great customers, advertisers and writers. I still remember the amazement when that first issue rolled off the printing presses, I just can’t believe how many years have passed since then.
Oddly enough…no one has ever asked for the magazine to come out more often. π― Ha ha!
in reply to: Building EFOC/UEFOC hunting arrows #29964Housekeeping! Moving this thread to Friends of FOC. Carry on! π
in reply to: Virginia Beach #20014Good luck with your move. Here is a link to the Club Listings on our site. Be sure and check other states that may be close by. I know we have a couple of active members here from North Carolina, but I don’t know geography well enough to say if that is close to Virginia Beach. I’m in Idaho, but if I were anywhere close to Steve Graf and Duncan I think I’d make the drive over to meet them. π Hopefully, they will find your thread and make some suggestions.
in reply to: Last Colorado Grizzly #18358I think we’d all like to see that. Post away! π
8) I see a slippery slope ahead.
I think we are all pretty much in agreement here, but let’s remember to avoid generalized name calling and be respectful of other members who may use crossbows. They are legal in many states and that doesn’t necessarily make someone a slob hunter.
in reply to: Cover scent! #13402You haven’t lost it R2, that really was a tip we ran two years ago; written by Dave Petersen. I think he’s had a bit of experience with those pesky skunks. I’m glad it worked for you, just hope the rabies test comes out okay.
in reply to: FLAT TAPER JIG FOR DISC SANDER #12233Hi Mark,
I don’t know if this is what you are looking for, but you might look at Gary and Connie Renfro’s system for footing arrows. Their website is http://www.traditionalarcheryproducts.com. I hope that helps.
