Ha ha! I have often thought that myself! If I can find a thumbs up icon to put with the smilies I’ll see if I can make that available. Not making any promises . Remember, it won’t work like that other social media site… It will just be another smilie.

Summary of my thoughts follow:
1. IL ban on new game farms is good.
2. Humane society is not the enemy and Peta is deserving of nothing but scorn.
3. Education of non-hunters is key never pass up the opportunity– great organizations to help–BCH, TU, WTF, RGS, ( no not the nra).
Oh well I tried–my fault–got to in-depth and I don’t type that quickly.

Sorry Mike! π³ Our system is set to log a member out after one hour of inactivity, and I can’t change that. I’m not sure if previewing the page counts as activity (it should). π It used to be 20 minutes, which was a real pain in the a$$. Alex beat me to the solution(s); hit the back button a couple times after logging in, or saving in a Word or Text document. I’m sorry we missed the longer version of your great insight.
in reply to: What's in a Name? #15125Great thread! It made me think my TBMADMIN was too stuffy. Dave lovingly coined the phrase “Webmother” when we first started the forums, and I like it. Much more casual, which is what we are all about. So today I changed my user name.
I enjoy all the great conversations, and I try to stay out of your way unless you need help in a motherly way π but rest assured I have eyes in the back of my head and I’m reading every post. 8)
Carry on, and holler if you need any help.
The article, The Practice of Silence, was published in the Oct/Nov 09 issue. It is still available in print, so it’s not available in digital format. π
I also understand that the article will be revised and expanded in Dave’s upcoming book, The Good Hunt. I will post more info on that when it is available.

How often does that happen?
in reply to: Still in the dark ages #10781archer38 wrote: I think part of the problem is that I’m using photobucket mobile. When I try to share a photo it only gives me a Facebook or twitter option.
Tap on the image you want, then down below the picture you see an “i” in a circle. Tap that and you will get the image links. Tap the IMG link and it copies the code that you can then paste in your post. π
in reply to: Still in the dark ages #9931Here is the link to our FAQ section that explains it.
How to I upload a photo in the forums?
Photobucket may change how their screen looks, but this should give you the general idea. When you view your picture, you can “Edit” the file to resize it. Please make it no larger than 600 px wide.
If you have questions, please email me directly at webmaster@tradbow.com. I’m happy to resize the picture(s) so you can link them as attachments in your post. There is also a very long thread here about photos in the forums.

in reply to: Facial Recognition #45125Hi Guys. I looked, and that story was posted in the Oct/Nov 12 issue. It was called The Darwin Hunt.
in reply to: Started Bare shaft Arrow Tuning #40386You might have already seen this, but we have a Feature Article from a few years back, Tuning 101 by Matt Green. Maybe this will help you analyze your shooting.
in reply to: Twisted limbs #40378Jason Wesbrock’s article about fixing twisted limbs is in our Download Library. All members have access to this. Here is a link: Fixing Twisted Recurve Limbs
(I’m also moving this to the Bows and Equipment forum.)
in reply to: Please post Kzoo pics here! #31863Well, you won’t see the TBM booth until Saturday. Ice storms in Idaho and Utah have grounded us in Salt Lake. We won’t get to Kalamazoo until late tomorrow night. Alex, I would trade you for the tropics in a heartbeat!

This is pretty much how I felt after reading Robin’s post. I have had that book in my “wish list” for like ever. I didn’t want to drop the few dollars on it until I exhausted my “cheaper” options. What gets me is not that I didn’t see it cheaper here, but that I never made the connection. Author, name, affiliation, etc. Then Robin writes about “T.J.” and all of the sudden I have one huge DUH!!!
OK, so I’m not the brightest bulb on the string. Whatcha gonna do?
Be well.

I still like to think I got this job because I’m good at it, but yes, I’m married to the boss. π I can attest to his hard work and many years putting that book together. I’d recommend it even if I wasn’t married to him.
After Dave’s dilemma I just randomly checked Amazon.com for T.J.’s books. Holy Cow! The Traditional Bowhunter’s Handbook is listed for hundreds of dollars! π― Used copies for $35 and up into the $100 range. That’s crazy! We sell that book for $25. I hope no one here has ever paid those high prices. They are listed by outside sellers (not Amazon directly) who probably paid $25 or less. Don’t get taken! I think the only books that I know of that go for that much money might be old Jay Massey books that are out of print and hard to find. Sheesh! Okay, back to work. π
in reply to: Double Posts? #30370Wayne, I wasn’t pointing any fingers. You certainly are not the only one to do this. And I didn’t mean to make it sound like I was scolding, just sharing an observation.
Michael, I thought it was an option…it is for me. π I really thought that each member could delete their own posts. Maybe something changed with the last update. I’ll contact the vendor to see what can be done.
“Patience Grasshopper(s)” Sometimes it’s our site and sometimes it your internet speed. I’ve never had to wait that long after clicking Send, and I don’t have super-fast internet speed. π I just know that sometimes we get in the habit of double clicking something, like opening a program, and that could be one reason for double posts.
