in reply to: New Bow/The Good Hunt #61655
Hi Alex,
Thanks for the generosity that all of you show on a daily basis. I would love for us to have some kind of charity/fundraising/benefit type of activity. Let me look into it further and see how other sites handle the legal and logistical issues involved.
I do know that online raffles are not legal. Buying a chance to win a prize is considered gambling. I love gambling as much as the next person π (maybe more) but we aren’t licensed for it.
I have a million questions about all the little details…that’s my job…details. If anyone here has hands on experience of managing an online auction from start to finish, I’d be interested in talking to you about it. In the meantime, I’ll see what I can find out from other sources.
in reply to: arrow spine gauge #58702Did you check out the article on this site? Make Your Own Spine Tester I hope it’s what you are looking for.
in reply to: New Bow/The Good Hunt #58224That is a very generous offer. Let me see what we can do.
in reply to: Arrow Question(s)β¦ #55396Alex, it’s all covered in The Traditional Bowhunter’s Handbook. π (Choose your shopping area then scroll down to the books section.) Building arrows is lots of fun!
in reply to: Broadheads, left bevel or right bevel? #54254Ha ha! It wasn’t me. Our system has a list of forbidden words. I removed “bastard” but I kinda wish I hadn’t looked at the rest of the list. π― I’m glad you guys don’t use words like that! π
in reply to: Ohio Traditional Bowhunters #52146Welcome Blackwidow1. π I hope you find some friends here to shoot with. We also have a listing of Traditional Clubs. Look for your state and some other states that might be close by. I hope that helps.
in reply to: Posting Pictures in the Forums #51069Hi Grumpy. I’m sorry this site seems harder to use than others. Your question is really a Photobucket question, and I hope I can help.
Go into your Photobucket account. From the Home page you will see a menu along the top. One of the choices is “Edit”. Click that and select the image you want to edit. From there you will see an option to “Resize”. Make it 640 wide by whatever height and click “Apply.” If you want it to change your original (I think you do, otherwise you will have two versions of each image) click the box that says “Replace Original.” Then save it and go on to the next one.
If you run into any trouble, just post here or email me at webmaster@tradbow.com. Good luck!
in reply to: Broadheads, left bevel or right bevel? #46575That is a personal choice, much like recurve vs. longbow. You might want to read Dr. Ashby’s study Why Single-Bevel Broadheads?, and then make your own decision. Members can access the Ashby Library in the dark green menu above, or from the Friends of FOC forum.
in reply to: Broadheads, left bevel or right bevel? #46515Here is a tip we published a while back that should explain it. A picture is worth a thousand words! π
in reply to: April/May 2013 TBM #42729No offense taken. Humans still work here, which means errors from time to time. π
in reply to: April/May 2013 TBM #42711The correct image is below. This was our fault, not Fred’s.
The caption should read:
A deep hook on the string puts the elbow in a very straight line. Good push-pull shooting will result. Pg. 48
in reply to: April/May 2013 TBM #35161You’re welcome! π I didn’t realize how many people were bothered by it until one person asked if I could look into the problem. There are a lot of things I can’t fix/change about how the site works, but it never hurts to ask.
in reply to: Please introduce yourselves, I'll start #33957Hi Grumpy! Welcome to the site. I’m glad you and Arwen have something that you can work on together.
We’d love to hear that story. Just start a new thread/topic in the Bows and Equipment Forum. There are lots of bow builders who visit our forums, and they are friendly and helpful. π
in reply to: Apr/May TBM ? #24302It’s okay to use the Help Desk to send a Letter to the Editor, or you can email T.J. directly at tj@tradbow.com.
in reply to: Floorless Shelters #23955Here is the contact info for Fred Asbell. http://www.gfredasbell.com. He does visit our site from time to time. I will ask him to reply in the forum for the benefit of all the readers here.
