in reply to: Experimenting with EFOC is Expensive! #12523[quote=”Hiram Tape up the back of the arrow the lenghth of the fletching with electricians tape.Cut to length with good flight, fletch it up, Bingo! Will more than likely not be exact dynamics in other Bows similar.
HiramI do not understand about the electricians tape. Do you wind it around the arrow to simulate the wt of the fletching? And how do you know how much tape?

Compaired to above I guess we do not have snow.:D We have about 10 inches on the ground. Going to get to -2 tonight. Up here in the northwoods if the groundhog sees his shadow and they say that we have six more weeks of winter, we cheer and say great! only six more weeks of winter.:)

Just found this web site. I know nothing about the bows but looks like a good price.in reply to: Dynamic spine #59437Dr. Ed Ashby wrote:
Conversely, every time the ‘short side’ gets shorter and the ‘long side’ gets longer it requires less weight added to the ‘long side’ to move the balance back towards the arrow’s rear. That’s why, as you get closer and closer (and into) Ultra-EFOC it becomes more and more important to reduce weight at the shaft’s rear; removing just a little weight from the shaft’s rear gives a change in FOC that’s equivalent to a much large increas in weight at the arrow’s tip – and the closer to the arrow’s rear you can remove that weight the more effect it has on the FOC. Ergo, one of the big (FOC) benefits of using the smallest fletching possible when you’re dealing with arrows that already have very, very high FOC

Has someone tried having the knock stay on the bow string when the arrow shoots? That would loose 10 grams on the very back end every time.

in reply to: Steel Force Broadheads #59434It is to their credit that they are listening and make a single bevel now. Hopefully they will work on the ferrule now. Then it should be one great broadhead.

Simply moving the weak point of the shaft farther back was also what I observed when using the all-parallel internal Footings too, on oblique angle impacts. It was only after going to the tapering back section Intertnal Footing that the shaft fractures ceased to be a major, major problem.

Dr. Ed
Do you know what the internal footing of the Hamerhead arrows of Arrow Dynamics consists of?

I did read your other thread. Thanks for reminding me as I am interested in what you find. Sinced you ordered the test kit with 300,340 and 400 I would try the 400 spine first. I bet it will be stiff spine and you will have to put max wt on front end to weaken it. Please let us know what happens. Thanks for letting us follow your research

in reply to: 3 Rivers Archery #58855Glad you had a good experience. I hope to go there some day. Got to save up some money first.
Which test kit did you get? I mean what kind of arrows?
ABS does have a video about this very thing.
in reply to: ABS Ashby single bevel BH #56727Thanks Dave. I think I will go with the BB next season. I just bought the wt system from 3Rivers so I can tune bow up to UEFOC if possible with my GT Expediton 3555’s. I have 19 teen of them. (I used to have two dozen but some are probably sitting next to my missing socks.)
My goal is to harvest a deer with my 40 # Indian Archery bow I bought brand new in about 1965. After that I am going to save up for a longbow about 55#. I intend to hunt elk at least once before I die. Those are just two things on my bucket list. The first two things.
in reply to: ABS Ashby single bevel BH #56052What would the MA be for both of the broadheads. The Ashby head and the BB:?:
