in reply to: God's Dog… #52744
I agree with others here that it doesn’t matter which side of the coin your on, it’s useless to debate it. Here in N. MI. there is a hefty population of yotes that have affected both big and small game numbers over the last couple years.
Which side of the coin am I on? I shoot every one I see with bow or gun.in reply to: Favorite Game animal to hunt and why? #32310I would have to say whitetails. They are the only big game in N. Mich. I can get tags for over the counter. I do apply for bear and elk permits. I’ve never drawn a tag for elk. I’ve drawn 2 bear tags over the last 15 years, the 1st hunt was unsuccessful and the 2nd was cancelled due to circumstances out of my control. I also love to chase bunnies and squirrels with my longbow. I would really like to hunt hogs, moose and caribou someday.
in reply to: VANES or FEATHERS ?? #42988Feathers rule! I don’t like vanes at all! Even when I shot a compound, I still shot feathers. It only takes 2 minutes to apply a little waterproofing to a half dozen shafts. I’ve only used the powder type, but hear the spray on is very effective. I also agree with Dave, I have shot soaking wet feathers with no problems, they just don’t look as perty that way.
in reply to: Heavy or light arrows #42951I am shooting cedar shafts out of my 45# bear montana. Finished arrows weigh 475 grains, thats just over 10.5 gpi. They have an foc of 13% with 135 gr. zwickeys. I’ve never had the opportunity for anything larger than whitetails, but I am very pleased with the results so far!
in reply to: Tree Stands #42925I’ve havn’t ever used a ladder stand, but have given it some thought lately. I’ve been thinking about lone wolf or summit. I have some friends that use both of these brands, and are extremly happy with them.
