in reply to: Steel Master Broadhead Sharpener #45774
Good luck buddy! 😀
in reply to: Making the bevel switch #40753After getting advice from folks, and doing some more research, I’m thinking the 190 gr Meathead may be the way to go.
With a 75 gr adapter I’ll have 25 more grains up front over my current set up, so I may need to shorten my arrows a hair…especially if I go with 100 gr adapters. Or maybe not….guess I won’t know til I fling a few.
in reply to: Backcountry in the Bighorns/Wind Rivers #39953I’ve done a number of backpacking/fishing trips up into the Winds from the Pinedale side. Have rarely seen other people and have had some great fishing. No big fish, but lots of them……and phenomenal scenery.
I had several field sites in the Bighorns. The Tongue River can produce some fish, and there are some lakes that hold lots of fish. Lot of critters in the Bighorns…..I looked into some areas where non-res could hunt more easily but I don’t remember what units they were. I’ve always wanted to bowhunt elk in the Bighorns.
Let me look at some maps of some of those lakes, etc. and I can let you know.
in reply to: Turkey Hunting to Bear Scouting #39890Nah, I like it there.:D
in reply to: Turkey Hunting to Bear Scouting #39869Excellent. Gonna be a fine camp again this year, even considering the company.
in reply to: On The Wild Edge #39867A new book soon? Fantastic! My bday is in July, I’ll ask my bride to order it.
in reply to: My Elkheart has arrived!! #32372Alex, I really like that wood on the limbs. I’m intrigued by these short bows.
in reply to: Longbow Turkey #56183Righty-o, Bunyan. Don’t chunk the legs and thighs! Cook them down and make a great turkey salad, or turkey pot pie……or cook em down, shred the meat, cook rice in the broth, and then add the meat……
in reply to: Longbow Turkey #46608Wyo, I have a Lynch too, good calls! That box is a Pinhoti call…..made by a good friend of mine in Alabama.
Thanks for the kind words, fellas.:D
in reply to: It's Time Again! #10864I pored over ‘Better on a Rising Tide’ last week before sending to a friend. That book is my annual pre-Spring read.
in reply to: It's Time Again! #10860Great book. Intelligently written, with a more personal approach to understanding animal behavior.
in reply to: Just Better With A Daypack On #61957You got it. I can’t wait to be walking through springtime looking for gobblers.
in reply to: Idaho Pictures #61952Great photos, pal! Love the one of the bow on the peak.
Great thread! I have a pile of interests….so many that I’m only half-arsed at most all of em. I’m an ex-river guide who is now a field biologist working with longleaf pine ecosystems and endangered woodpeckers….so I’m in the woods daily! I love hunting of all types…most especially turkey hunting, and organic gardening, music, fishing, camping and canoeing, primitive skills, skinny dipping, IPAs and stouts, and old, lazy black labs named Sadie.:D
