in reply to: Extremely Hard Season So Far! #39921I envy you guys from the northwest…we have the same problem with “motorbutts” around here in Ohio, but it’s not the same as yours with the invasion of the majestic forests that you have. Good luck with whatever is left of your seasons…May it be a peaceful and successful one!
Waynein reply to: Early PA Doe Season #39903Glad to see someone has got out and had alittle success this year, buddy!(You and Tailfeather)Hope your quest for a buck is just as successful and memorable,Bush…:D
in reply to: Washing Clothes: Baking Soda? #38721I use baking soda in my boots and have dusted my armpits with it on occasion:lol:. Mainly, I wash my clothes with Sportwash andthen use Scent Killer to spray on my clothes and boots. But there’s nothing like hanging them out in the fresh air in the shade to freshen up your clothes. I also wash with Ivory soap before heading for the woods.
in reply to: I"v never used a longbow #37476I’ve shot longbow 7or8 yrs. after shooting a recurve for 6 yrs. and I’ve never looked back.I’m hooked! After getting used to the way a longbow shoots and adapting to the subtle differences, it has become the most natural of ways to shoot. It will force you to be more aware of your form and technique in general. I think you will find the longbow mezmerizing(sp?), to say the least. Good luck and enjoy!:)
in reply to: New to TBM and traditional archery in general #37455TKO, you made a good choice in coming here to help you in your traditional bowhunting. The commaraderie here is top-notch, plus there isn’t alot of bickering and sm artalecky remarks like some other public forums; the folks here are genuine and not afraid to give freely of there time and experiences. Welcome aboard!:D
in reply to: Longbow buck #36418Fine deer; CONGRATS!:) Glad you were able to find him with alittle help from your friends…You never forget the first one.
in reply to: Arrow quivers while hunting #33989Used a back quiver for years treestand hunting and for a while after becoming a ground hunter. I’d hang the quiver on a teacup hook in the tree I was hunting. Successfully used the back quiver on the ground, but found that at times I’d snag on the brush. Plus, getting a second arrow meant alot of motion. That’s when I decided to go to EFA four arrow Mini Max…. alot less motion for getting that second arrow and less hangups on the brush. JMHO
Waynein reply to: refunishing bow????? #33961Jason, I’m glad to hear that you still have your Savannah and using it this season. Unless you’ve got it all scratched up I wouldn’t worry about it; the little marks give it character. I’ve had my Elk River for about 5 yrs now and the small scratches on it just show that it’s been used. On the other hand, I’m sure Martin will refinish your bow and make it look like new, or you can find someone like your buddy Tim who deals in finishing arrows who could lightly sand and respray it with polyurethane for you.
Keep me posted on how your season is going….I didn’t go today as it’s been raining all day.
Wayne(or Gerald,as you know me from my profile)in reply to: Who is your bowhunting hero and why? #33058I have alot of people I look upto in bowhunting….and alot of them are still with us. But the one guy that I used to love to read and read about was Paul Schafer. His stories were real down to earth but adventurous at the same time. I miss him.
Of course, I enjoy FB,GFA,DP,GW,BW,TJC,EDT,and MRJ,just to mention a few.Wish I could express things half as well as they can and did.
I feel fortunate just to be in the midst of some of them.in reply to: Went hunting again. #28256Thanks for sharing,Frank. Enjoyed your day also…Wayne:D
in reply to: CO last day elk hunt: a story of success #28249Thanks T, Alex and Mr. P for sharing your experiences…. Hope to have something of worth to share soon, but, alas, only hope to be able to relate it half as well as you all do.
in reply to: Shrew Haven West #26051Dave….I do know the empty feeling of a season coming to an end. I’m sure all the camp experiences are etched into all of your memories for years to come. I’m still looking forward to the making of this year’s memories. Our season has only begun, but the weather is hot and the woods have n’t taken on that fall feeling. Thanks for sharing with fellow hunters who live our lives vicariously through those of you who have chance to pursue the majestic Elk out there in Colorado.:D
