in reply to: Little Bears of the North Woods #9108Those bruisers look like they’ve been eating lots of Whoppers at Burger King.
in reply to: A Day in the North Woods #9088Very interesting……Say,did you ever get to the beaver lodge?
Wayne:?in reply to: Woodsmanship….. #62213:)Not enough can be said about how important woodsmanship is.My dad started my brother and I with archery at an early age, but the divorce of my parents of my parents at the early age eight left me without a mentor. We continued to hunt and fish as we were brought up by grandparents, but my Pap worked hard all his life in the steel mill and only had an occasional break to be with his grandsons.
My skills developed over the years, but never really blossemed until I fell in with other traditional bowhunters. Just says something about the traditional way.:)in reply to: Ol' Sage and some mismatched arrows video. #61935Nice video,George……Happy 4th!:)
in reply to: Anyone on here from Ohio #44435I’m from the eastern part of Ohio in Steubenville on the Ohio River. I believe there are more than a few Ohio trad guys on here. Hope you find the guys here enjoyable to talk with.:D
Waynein reply to: How about hunting bear in Michigan? #25493Craig,not a problem with the name….I go by Wayne. Looks like you’ve got some pretty nice hogs to hunt too. Got to go find your email if my wife hasn’t deleted it already.
Later…Waynein reply to: How about hunting bear in Michigan? #23229Spot and stalk would be my choice,as I’ve only previously hunted them over bait and wasn’t much of a challenge. I’d really like to hook up with someone who knows the area so I could get near to where the bear are. I wouldn’t have the time to get in and scout an area being limitted on my time there. Like to hear more about California and Colorado.
Thanks for the info. Wayne:)in reply to: How about hunting bear in Michigan? #15287Thanks for the offer,Ray…It would be a dream come true to venture to the northwest and hook up with you for a few weeks of bear hunting. Guess I’d have to figure in the travel as air miles and not road miles. Ohio to Washington state is a poke by road.:) It’s something to think about and I’ve heard yoyu talk before about the quality of bear hunting there.
Thanks again….Waynein reply to: Happy Birthday Dave… #8608Have a happy birthday, young man! 😆 May you have many more and keep livin’ the life!
in reply to: How about hunting bear in Michigan? #8597Thanks,guys….I was already reading on the Michigan site for tourism and it sounded rather hopeless for us to even consider hunting bear there in the first place.:( I really don’t know where we go from here, but I don’t think it’s going to be Michigan. Hope you draw you’re drawn for a license and then get the big one.
Waynein reply to: DIY Bow Stringer #63944Swamprat…you can take a bowstringer with the leather cups and cut the top cup out, as I did to allow you to place the loop in the grooves. Works good:wink: and I hope you find what you need.
in reply to: Stalk in these? #63921Would like to improve my stalking skills in any way that I can and I think perhaps the 5 fingers would work just fine although I do use light running shoes to pull this off..:) Good tine of the year to perfect those skills.
Waynein reply to: New bowhunter born today! #58146Congrats India and Thomas and a big TBM welcome to Roman Hawk Downing!:D Just got a granddaughter myself back in January and my son and I hope she’ll be a bowhunter too.
Waynein reply to: Hunting & Spirituality #49405It seems most all of us are in awe of nature and incorporate it into our spirituality.Whether we credit it to the hand of God or random occurences is where we might differ. But I think we all agree we have a love for the nature we hunt in. Enjoy it while we can, brothers and sisters.:D
