in reply to: On TeeVee hunting heroes #56088Good lord – just when I thought the Sportsman Channel couldn’t get worse…
Speaking of which, it’s also sad to see what’s become of The History Channel (except for “Vikings,” which is awesome), The Learning Channel, etc. It’s all contrived ‘reality show’ crap these days. I guess they’ve all gone where the money is, although for the life of me, I can’t figure out who actually watches these shows…

Yeah – the biggest problem I have is not falling asleep in it. 😀

I have Big Jim’s seat as well. I like it. It’s nice and simple, easy to reloate, and comfortable enough. But where the hammock seat wins for me is in how small it packs down and how light it is, and I also find it more comfortable. Still, Big Jim’s is a good option, esp. if you’re not going to hike far with it.

in reply to: The 2013 Season Bulletin Board #53691Yow – that too warm. Crazy weather nationwide right now. It was -23 when I got up this morning, without the windchill.

Hey now, I resemble that statement. 8)

Wow – that’s the first part of the country that I’ve heard is “unseasonably” warm right now! Enjoy it!
in reply to: On TeeVee hunting heroes #53665I have to be honest here – of all the issues facing hunting these days, how someone talks seems pretty low on the priority list. And it seems unnecessarily divisive, for little (if any) gain.
Let’s focus on real threats.
Just sayin…
in reply to: The Hammock Seat #53419Doc –
Can’t say that’s been my experience at all! I find it really comfortable to sit in for long periods, and fairly easy to get out of. In general, the lower you hang the seat, the more effort that is required to get out of it (as with any low seating option), but if you hang it higher, it’s just a matter of standing up and you’re out of it, in my experience.
As far as not being able to shoot while seated in it, I can’t understand that. It’s no different in my experience than shooting while seated in any other seat, with more lateral mobility without having to reposition.
But in the end, comfort is a highly personal thing!
