in reply to: Hardwood shafts? #37940

I was thinking about Dave’s broke arrow myself and being the engineer I ma came up with a couple of ideas to solve that based on what we see for a spears tip which while long also has metal collar extending down the shaft more to hold in place now to get a welder and few tuffheads to try this idea.

For me a Dall sheep hunt then a grizzly/moose hunt in the interior of Alaska. Finally a nice hunt in Africa for a buff would be fun

in reply to: Scent proof? #28642

Dave, my understanding is for any animal it is not just the oils in our skin but the dead skin we drop off while moving that they can sniff out for the runner, he leaves more of his scent from these 2 things. I have not tried the rubber boot theory, after all i doubt if it would work on a trailing dog since the track training we do for dogs. sometimes we use rubber boots and they track with no problem. So deer and dogs might be different in that regard.

I could not wait for the plane ride to start reading so I started to read “Have Bow will travel” enjoying it a lot.

Thanks Don great editorial and I agree with Roger. I think the big problem with T.N. is he has read so much of his own press it has gone to his head and makes him think he is above the law.

One question does the bow really need silencers. When I got my most recent I tunes it nice enough where it did not string silencers don’t know if it might be possible with this bow.

I like the lead by example, you might want to try and find some hunting literature that explains the difference between poaching and hunting to share with them.

bullseye, I remember that the reason Fred Bear liked having his broadheads in that fashion was to cure a target panic problem in that he would draw and shoot as soon as the head touched his finger. Sort of like a clicker. I tried shooting the VPA broadheads I had both ways this year where the head was either horizontal or vertical I found no difference in position.
