in reply to: Anyone ever use these heads? #41177Sebastian, when you go hunting for the Roedeer do you also find a lot of healthy mushrooms to take home to eat. What type of small game do you have to hunt there mostly rabbits?
in reply to: More Blackbeard Island Pics #41170Awesome pics. how were the bugs this time of year.
in reply to: Trimming tab #37090Alex, I enjoyed Arnes description of how to practice. One other way i read recently and tried was by G. Fred Asbell in his book “Advanced Instinctive shooting for Bowhunting” in there he described using a one gallon paint can. He describes that if you put the cans thin wire handle on the same joint of the fingers and lift the can where the bottom is about 6″ off of the ground and relax the fingers right, the can should fall back flat to the ground. If the release is wrong the can will then fall on its side, so make sure the can is closed tight. For me that worked well to try, I went with a can that i had left from painting that had only about 1/4 full and it really helped me to get the feeling of a smooth release down.
in reply to: Machine-gun archery! #37087If you like to read about that time I can recommend a historical fiction series about the Khans by Conn Iggulden.

in reply to: Hello! New guy here! #32168I read 2 of Don Thomas’s books while flying to SA and really enjoyed both of them about his adventures toting a bow around the world.
in reply to: About to give up. #30045I have to agree with dwc about practicing on the blank bale. While you have talked to people locally and watched videos. Have you ever videoed yourself to watch what you are doing. If you have that can be a starting point. I find it helped me as a visual person to look at my own results instead of just having someone explain it to me. Also once I realized I needed help, I searched for a local coach who really focused on teaching basic form to the local shops joad team. With this my hits are a lot tighter and more accurate consistently. The one benefit of this is I now can shoot 2 hours at a time and never get tired, like I used to when trying on my own.
in reply to: Machine-gun archery! #25613Very interesting rapid fire techniques of Archers. No wonder the Mongols ruled for as long as they did with there style of mounted archery.
in reply to: Whats your all time favorite TBM piece? #14486I enjoy all the articles so much I would have a hard time giving up the magazines to someone to read unless I knew they were coming back.
in reply to: My new longbow #13483really nice looking bows you have built there and the seem to to shoot well too.
in reply to: Dog Question #42842Some dogs because of genetics have harder time settling down when not needing to work. This is often what causes anxiety in a dog. You can do a search for books or videos where they have training techniques to help with this for the level of stress your dog has.
in reply to: Dog Question #41942If she is not a hunting dog that is fine but beside exercise in the yard have you done any mind games with her. Also when working with the trainer have they helped you teach her how to calm in the house. While I don’t have a walker I do have a working shepherd and I had to work with him to learn when to turn on his off switch so he settles in the house.
in reply to: Hardwood shafts? #40475Dave good luck on the exotic big game. Also I think both ideas would hold the head well and mimic breaks look at the most current TBM where Billy Berger does his tests on bird points and notice he has no breakage of head with sinew attached to shaft.
in reply to: Looking to plan a Dream Elk Hunt #40464I have to agree with Nate decide what the dream would look like and start building from there to make it happen. Most important if you are looking for a big bruiser as you say most states have draw areas where the big bruisers are and will take awhile to go for them. That does not mean the otc areas do not have big boys to they are just really hard to find and tough to hunt. Good luck in your quest.
