Gregg is an awesome bowyer and an all around good guy. I have been hunting with Coffey built Shrews now for a long time. I have recently drifted away from the compact Shrew bows, and started shooting one of Gregg’s Duo Flex models. Amazing quality.
I know from conversation that he is extremely proud of this EH model. When a guy like Gregg puts “his all” into something like this….expect great things. 😀
in reply to: Machine-gun archery! #25345Wow…..I’d like to put that guy on my “Bloody Ridge” stand with a pocketful of antlerless permits.
in reply to: Had Your Fill Yet? #23259I think I may have the “sitting in a blind or in a tree” out of my system, but I will be chasing rabbits with my beagle for the rest of the year. I hunt rabbits with a lot of different weapons, but will be sticking with a longbow or recurve this year to preserve the chase. I will probably allow some kids to use firearms, so they can get a taste of success, but Daisy and I care very little about actually killing a rabbit.
Ha! As i type this, I’m thinking about Don Thomas and lions….maybe Daisy and I have stumbled upon “Poor Mans Lion Hunting”…substituting beagles and cotton tails for lions and Walkers….:D
in reply to: Success or not #23231I abhor lost/wasted game. It has happened to me. I shot a huge doe one night, and had some great trackers in camp. We had marginal blood. We made the proper decision to pick up the trail in the morning. We found her 100 yards away, completely consumed by SOMETHING (we have wolves, coyotes, and bears). To this day I know in my heart I caused that waste. I don’t like the taste of that.
Finding antlers a few weeks after? I would keep them. I wouldn’t hang them on the wall. I would keep them as a reminder to what I did WRONG. Would I have a picture of myself taken proudly with the rack? Not in a million years.
in reply to: Gun Season is over…. #23225Our rifle season ends on the 30th, and then muzzloader starts on the 7th. Thinking about it last night, I am going to take advantage of that gap and get Daisy The Wonder beagle out after bunnies. If we measure our trophies by level of difficulty, a long bow rabbit is tougher than a longbow whitetail 😀
in reply to: Magic Beans!?! #21389I don’t get it. I would rather spend a life “fair chasing” does and forkhorns than shoot one of those enhanced zoo animals.
in reply to: Wet Feathers #19894The use of a SMALLER feather is interesting to me…..I have always gone with a big 5 1/2″ high back parabolic for the reason of “more feather in the rain”. Hmmmm. Sounds like I could be wrong.
I wonder how the low profile banana cut feathers would work when wet?
Good stuff. Time for an experiment. Thanks. 😀
in reply to: Another miss. Input welcomed. #18797If you are close enough to see thier eyes bat….you are doing it right. Learn to control the rush. It can only happen through experience.
If you don’t get the rush….quit doing it. 😀

I am certainly “Bow Blessed”:D
in reply to: My new Java Man Duo Flex #55425Ha! “The Coffey Club” it is! Your post made me go down to the shop and count….this one makes 6…..unless I missed one 😀
Gregg is a great bowyer and a great friend. I get a great deal of enjoyment out of BS’ing with him about all the worlds problems, I love it when he stops by with something for me to shoot, and I like how he treats his customers. I just wish I could get him out in the bush more chasing bunnies with me and Daisy The Wonder Beagle…but he chains himself to that bowyers bench!
in reply to: Leave Strung in Woods? #53906The porcupines and squirrels in Michigan would have your bow ruined in just a few minutes.
Dave is right, get a lighter bow:D
in reply to: AZ e-z fletch #51649I use Bitzenberger and BPE. My Dad had an AZ EZ Fletch, he didn’t care for it, he gave it away.
in reply to: Centering glue on broadheads #51134bullseye wrote: OK Guys, I understand that the position of the broadhead on the shaft is important, especially if it is a 2 blade. The blades need to be in a vertical plane to your bow handle. Up and down as you look down the arrow. Not side to side (or flat). I was told to do this for 2 reasons. 1. So you can feel the back edge touching your bow grip fingers and not over draw 2. The angle of the broadhead blade (at the bow) will match how it strikes the target as it hits. Now, I was told this a long time ago and have stayed with this form of mounting and shooting my hunting arrows. In my few tests on targets I have found it to be true. YMMV, and I may have been told wrong? But, thru the years it has worked for me and it does make it harder to mount my broadheads as I don’t settle for any wobble. What’s your thoughts??? Bullseye
It makes absolutely no difference how your broadheads are aligned, as long as they are straight.
I just mounted some steel inserts into Tuffheads last night. I use hot melt, and was able to get perfect spin without much trouble. Perfect spin, no wobble, is key.
in reply to: I can't stand this heat…. #42034Smithhammer wrote: Come up here! The high today was 28F, and we got a couple inches of new snow.
My drive to work this morning:
Dang Smithhammer…I was just there last month, and it was hot then too!:D
in reply to: Dog Question #41467My beagle (The World Famous Daisy The Wonder Beagle) does that sometimes.
Often it is just because she is bored. She needs to be run, she has to get some energy out of her system.
Other times it is during the change of seasons, especially the spring. New smells, and new sounds outside (like ice melting or frogs chirping) seem to get her anxious-acting….I think it is more curious than anxious, remember a hound is ruled by her nose.
Either way, for Daisy, a good walk or run cures it.
