OK, archery form only thread Ralphie my boy!!:D
I’m not too unhappy with my form right now either. I’ve been working hard to get back what I had before the TP crap hit me.
That problem, TP, is purely mental so I’m attacking it with concentrating on getting my form back and the rest is coming right along. 😀 Gettin it back, ha, ha, ho, ho, hee, hee. Knock on wood for those who know the expression though!!!!
Feels really good to draw back and hold. Not holding to aim or shoot or anything, if I consciously aim I’m bound to miss, just holding and NOT shooting. You would not believe how hard that can be.
So I be willing to listen to observations. Critique is cool, the chip on my shoulder is about toothpick size, so no prob there.
Judgement, well that comes from another source entirely. 😀
in reply to: The "Form" Thread #43474Steve, working on two things, consistent anchor and stop throwing bow hand to the right.
I am liable to have two arrows touching in one spot then two touching in another spot a few inches away. I think that’s probably anchor point floating.
Maybe I oughta get some plaid rope for my belt when I go turkey hunting y’spose?
My paunch looks bigger on film than it does when I look at my feet. Darn. 😀

My turn.
Last shot I was trying to follow left to right without letting go of the dang string just cause I had it pulled back. 😀
I this doesn’t work I’ll try again.
Notice my “traditional” belt:?
I’m no competition for Spielberg for sure.

in reply to: Keeping it fun! #40231Can we giggle while we wait to laugh?
That’s tough man. We ought a be cryin.
in reply to: Keeping it fun! #39111Not really scientific Bruce but the added stability helps not only in archer error but in the nature of the beast for wood arrows.
Some seem to do fine with 3-4″, but since no two pieces of wood truly “flex” the same, to me the 3- 5″, if nothing else, is a confidence factor. If an arrow, or me, seems iffy with 4″ fletch, put 5″ on and be happy.
I’ve never been a big fan of 4 fletch, just me, but they’re working OK on the carbons. Why???
If you’re just an old bow shooter and have a system that works, have confidence in it, go for it.
But, I’m never too old to experiment and play with y’all youngn’s toys. 😀
in reply to: Tis the season #39040Getting ready. Shot a couple of woodies with grizzlys on them this morning. 30 yd.s dead on. That’s my test distance for all my arrows. They work to there they’ll work any distance less.:)
I’m going to the ranch tomorrow to snoop, maybe find a pig or coyote. We have more acreage this year and there’s a spot I’ve been wanting to set up on for years and couldn’t because it was out of bounds. Not now!!!!
I’ll be seeing about a hidey hole in that draw. 🙂
in reply to: Keeping it fun! #37976in reply to: Keeping it fun! #37964in reply to: Zwickey Delta Giveaway #37933I was hunting mulies up in the Canadian River breaks a couple of years ago. In out of canyons and draws, up on on top, back down when I got a muley doe and her two yearlin’s up.
They stood and gave me the stare for awhile til I decided I had things to do so I said “Boo”.
They hightailed it then, up to the rim they went, the doe and one young’n one way the other young’n another.
Up at the top of the canyons in this country there’s a rimrock any where from a couple of feet high to ten feet or more high.
Momma and her kiddo got up top and she being wiser hit the top where the rim was about three feet and she and young’n cleared with no problem.
Now jr., I figure a jr. knowing how we guys can be about things, not being as experienced as momma and with I’m thinking the male bravado, didn’t think it out quite as well.
The rim was maybe six-eight foot high where the flying leap was attempted. Not!!!!!!!
That deer hit the rim about a foot short, did a back flip and rolled ass over tea kettle all the way back to the bottom,, probably 200 feet, and stopped about ten feet from me.
Me, I was having a hard time feeling sorry for the little critter cause I was laughing my tail off.
The feller ? lay there a bit, got up, shook itself off, looked at me and I swear it grinned, said “s**t, what a ride” and just walked away.
I did take buck by fawn bleating and drawing a muley doe in and a buck came charging in hell bent for leather but that’s another story. Humor in that one too.
