I guess you could substitute squawfish? Used to be plenty of those in the Snake River. :D:D
Oh oh, what’s that got to do with glove/tab Ralphie boy? Old boy perhaps?:D
in reply to: Mitten's article in the current TBM #62336I’ve rarely seen any “snobby” attitudes in a traditional bunch, occasionally yes but those people are that way no matter where they’re at whether it be around archery or just life in general.
I’ve never thought of there being a difference in a kill shot on a 3D animal from a hunting bow or a target bow, a longbow or a recurve bow, a trad bow or a wheel bow but to some I guess there is. 😀 Still, no sense in squabbling about it.
I enjoyed Mitten’s article. I respect his gumption, efforts and fortitude to accomplish what he desired.
Way I see it if you ain’t havin’ fun with yourself and those around ya what in the hell are you doin it for.
This don’t count always at work though:lol:

in reply to: Tip on straightening wood shafts #62196A round shafted 6″ or 8″ screwdriver will also work.

Thanks to Mom’s help here’s some info that might be useful.
I know it pertains to plastic vanes but I think there’s some info that may be useful for using feathers. Feathers will kick off your riser or shelf too so the positioning of feathers like he did the vanes might be worth trying.
I would but I’m not going to invest in a right wing set up for my fletching jig. If I come across one El cheapo then I’d try it in a heartbeat.

in reply to: Field vs Broadhead Weights #61256Quite regularly I can find something written that portrays my thoughts on a topic much better than I can express them.

All better now:D:D:D
The wind has laid after a week of it, and it’s nice and warm. Think I’ll stay here with my wife and family:D and dog. Ha!!!
in reply to: Field vs Broadhead Weights #61188Scott, 😀 shoot what works for ya and if ya gotta chase something down just run a little faster than ol’Doc.
Probably pretty simple think to do. 🙄
I think I read something into Doc’s rolling eyes there:lol:

I’d say the answer is in the question.
What did people do before grain scales? They observed the results and kept the ones that flew well.
SH – you’re right! I’m happy with an apple size group at 20 yards. No German in me, but if I could get down to a ping pong ball if the weight mattered enough, I wouldn’t stop progress, but neither do I want to lose the “good” to an attempt at perfection.
You get to shooting a ping ball size group then throw an arrow or two into the apple circumference then you start thinking what’s wrong with the arrow and “Sometimes it ain’t the equipment but the injun that’s the problem”.
I’m having that problem this morning, has nothing to to do with arrows, the wind sucks but that don’t mean I can’t repeatedly hit the wrong place. My form is lacking and I can’t even make the wrongs consistent.
Putting the bow down for awhile, lick my wounds, listen to Medwyn Goodalls, “Temple Journey” and get over being flustered.

in reply to: Field vs Broadhead Weights #61024It was probably some overly curious Tennessean of German heritage that invented the grain scales.:D
in reply to: Field vs Broadhead Weights #61009If things are shootin good and you start thinkin about it they won’t be shootin so good. 😀
in reply to: Field vs Broadhead Weights #60984Hey, if they’re flying good it matters not IMHO. If they get straight to the point 😀 that’s what counts. Just my thinkin’ but I have a tendency to simplify things.
