Those are similar to my sentiments.

I can understand how limiting rifle hunters would just lower the total harvest. That alone might just allow deer to get older. But for me hunting blacktails with trad gear, I’m just not good enough to let deer walk. I might only get one shot a season.

It also seems QDM fits better with eastern hunting. There’s more deer and more private land. But then I agree, it seems like ranching deer rather than hunting. And what was it Leopold said… “Managing a species too intricately takes away its wildness” or something like that.

However, I do approve of QDMA pushing for doe harvest to have a more equal sex ratio.

          Dave,

I seriously doubt we will be disappointed…unless you’re using a crossbow in the film!

My issue, finally came. We’re kind of isolated in Humboldt County and mail takes longer to arrive.

I just finished “Blacktail poison” by Shawn Woods. I’m not sure if you’re on this forum Shawn, but if you are- Damn! What a badass:shock: poison oak foreshaft arrows!!! I can think of nothing less appealing! But that’s so cool.

Also, did you change after shooting that buck? Cause you’re in blue jeans and a blue shirt, and blue is the only color deer can see…? Great story!

I’ve been offline for the last week, and am now seeing the terrible news. Maybe this can liven us some. The guy in the middle found the big one on the left and the one he is holding. I found the matching side the next day. I’m on the right.

              Best of luck Dave.

Wow, great video. Those are the wing feathers with the spots. Really crazy display.

Yeah the fletchings caught my eye as well. We have that bird stuffed in our museum at school, they are tail feathers, but I can’t remember that birds name. I’ll check it out today and report back later.

Great stuff fellas. Exactly as Doc Nock said, I would like to be able to re-use an insert/broadhead if the shafts breaks from the animal falling on or running past trees or through brush.

It sounds like some of the epoxies can be heated and removed just like hot melt glue, except the JB weld…?

I’m not sure if this is right, but while reading the Ashby reports, I got the impression that epoxy formed a stronger bond than the hot melt glues. Is that wrong?

YES paleoman, we’re putting in our greens and early peas, and battling the SLUGS! They’re worse than deer cause you can’t put up a fence (unless its solid copper… yeah not gonna happen). I’ve never had to deal with anything like this before. They have eaten a 15′ row of beet seedlings in one night!

Great topic. I would think penetrating a bear is not easy. I don’t have much to go on for this, except that when I’ve skinned/butchered black bears, my knife dulls really quick and I have to constantly sharpen it during the process. I think this is the case because of all the tendons in the meat. Would like to hear some other opinions too…:?:

Hey 1Shot, How many males can be harvested while the zone is open? 5 days, that’s a short season, good luck.
