in reply to: Bearpaw windblocker glove #31898
Yesterday, my son and I were shooting at the local club we are a member of, and this young guy (relatively speaking) came walking in with a recurve, and he pulled out one of those gloves. He loves it as well.
Not until I saw Gregg Coffey’s photo of you and him did I know for certain I had seen you walking around at the Expo, Alex. I thought maybe it was you, but wasn’t sure enough to say something.

Speaking for myself, I’m not in an uproar about it, I’m just not impressed. I probably should be impressed, but it just didn’t do anything for me.
in reply to: Mind blowing archer #26515I have had a bunch of friends refer me to this video, as well as seeing it commented on a bunch, including a thread started here by Dave. I have likewise, avoided commenting on it, because I didn’t want to come across the way I will likely come across, but I can’t help myself.
When I watched it for the very first time, I was not “blown away” in the least. In fact, I rolled my eyes…literally. It just doesn’t impress me at all. The guy is an incredibly fast shot. I’ll give him that, but that’s all (I’m specifically referring to only the archery aspects of the video).
I would be willing to bet all the money I have in the bank, that Byron Ferguson is a much better shot than this guy. Granted, I don’t have much money in the bank right now, but I digress.

While they too are fallible, they tend to do a lot more research than we do here in expressing gut opinions. Do us, and truth, a favor and become the unofficial Tradbow fact checker, any time we’re discussing something that Snopes, etc. has commented on.
Only as long as my word is considered infallible. 😆

Happpy new year
Northern Mist Longbows would also fit the bill, if I understand what it is your looking for. I have a Whisper, and love it. I also love my Java Man Elkheart! Both bowyers are great guys and do top notch work.
I had never heard of the Blacktail Bow Company…WOW! Incredibly beautiful, and if you have a bunch money laying around that you just don’t know what to do with…
The bow:

And Merry Christmas to all!
in reply to: Neck Knife #33718One of the things I like about using my neck knife is that I don’t have to wear a belt. Generally speaking, I only wear a belt to wear my knife. I don’t know how many times I’ve had my knife on my belt, under other layers, which is difficult to get to. With the neck knife, I can wear it on the outside, or under my jacket. Either way, it’s easy to get to.
in reply to: Storing and/or Displaying Your Bows #33118This is mine. I don’t have a bunch of bows either, but more than this will hold well. My very first deer. My parents had it made for me, way back when. 8)

I’ve always found whatever I’ve lost in the last place I’ve looked…try looking there. 😆

20 yard group is the group with the bow. 15 yard is the 3 arrows in the top bale. He shoots that bow better than i’ve ever seen anyone shoot a bow. on the 20 yard group you notice the arrow that is kicking up. its because he busted the knock off the arrow next to it.
Most impressive.
When I was at Gregg’s home, picking up my Java Man Archery Elkheart, I shot a few other bows, and used his American Leathers Big Shot. It seeemed much better suited to me, as it didn’t seem as though it was keeping the string further from my face. I’m going to try out their CrossOver glove at the Kalamazoo Expo, as long as they’re there, of course. As Smithammer noted above though, I could buy a bunch of tabs for the same price!
in reply to: Suggestions: History of Archery Books #28231Have any of you read, “The History of Archery” by Edmund Burke? Steve Turay quotes the book on his website.
