in reply to: String Silencers what is the best for you ? #16655
I like to keep it simple. Dave Petersen had mentioned he just uses a couple short (maybe 3″) strips of leather and I tried it. I like it, and that’s what I’ll stick with.
in reply to: Northern Mist Longbows #12727I’m a Northern Mist fan. I really like Steve’s bows. As I just noted in another post, between my son and I, we have two Baraga’s, and I have a Whisper on order. The pics of both Baraga’s are in earlier posts of mine.

π― What the?!! That is just plain bizarre!
Here, in Michigan, baiting was banned just a few years ago.
in reply to: Northern Mist +++++ #12706Yes congrats +1. Steve makes great bows, and he’s a great guy too. Pictures are a must! π

π No new bows in hand. I do, however, have 2 bows (Shrew Classic Hunter and a Northern Mist Whisper) on order currently. BUT I will probably have to cancel the order for the Shrew. Timing is everything…sometimes.
in reply to: An Old Coot's Contemplations…. #61424Wow, it seems there’s a lot of people coming back from the virtual dead. Good to see you on here again Steve! I’ve missed your novel length posts! π (Sorry Steve, some things don’t change π³ π )

After an almost two year hiatus I am back! I have yet to harvest a critter with my EFOC setup but I did manage to graduate with my bachelors degree and had a baby girl in that time so I wasn’t slacking. Just wanted to let you all know I am back and looking for Mr. Petersen…hopefully he comes around still. I hope you all have been sucessful and it appears I have a LOT of reading to catch up on…lol.
Best,
DanWelcome back! It seems your hiatus was much more productive than mine! π

Steve, I will be absolutely shocked if you think they are anything less than great.

I bet you were thinking the same of me. π π³ π
in reply to: atv riding #56843This subject has been beaten to death. I don’t quite follow the line of reasoning here. I’m not going to get into a discussion regarding regulating ATV’s or the such. However, I really despise their use for hunting, and don’t quite see how they fit into traditional bowhunting. When I’m hunting, (or hiking, for that matter) I want to hear nature, not a distant ATV rumbling along…amongst other reasons.

What do you guys think about lunch on Saturday? I don’t want to conflict with the kid activities so I’ll give it some thought. Your input is welcome too.
Count me in! π
in reply to: Kalamazoo Traditional Bowhunters Expo #55847I recognize these people from somewhere. Can’t quite put my finger on it though:

My personal bowyer (ha!), Steve Turay (Northern Mist Longbows) and his wife. I don’t know who the guy facing away from me is. Six months until my Whisper will be done:

Ron LaClair and Gregg Coffey. Gregg says about 3 more months for my Classic Hunter:

Barry Wensel, Mike Mitten, and Gene Wensel, signin’ and chattin’:

Blake Fischer from Eclipse Broadheads. This is just after, in a rare moment of gullibility (according to me), I took, hook, line, and sinker, Blake’s explanation of the advantages of having a sharp back edge on a broadhead. I was kind of thinking he was off his rocker, until he told me he was just messing with me:

Bernie, doling out some cash and the guy adding some art to his own photo on the Lancaster Archery catalog:
