Awww, shucks…thanks! It’s great to be back.
Nate Bailey wrote: If people are using compounds to help them make clean kills, within normal bow range, more power to them, but if they are using them to extend their range then we, as bowhunters have to impose a set of ethics for the animals sake.
Couldn’t agree more.
in reply to: 7 year spike #37922Sweet pics and congrats on your 7 year spike!
in reply to: Finally getting a leg up on target panic! #37918One thing I’ve learned is that if I keep shooting at the same target, things go south in a hurry. No offense meant to those of you in the south. Besides, it’s all relative. 🙂

I could toss it on the car sure but personally I think it is in bad taste to display.
💡 Maybe someone makes a car trailer for your mountain bike. Gotta think outside the box. 😆
in reply to: Assumptions and Biases #37831My only point was that, with the increased insurgency of the crossbow, my negative biases and assumptions towards compounds have diminished.
Well that, and I’m in a posting frenzy, due to a prolonged departure from the site. 😆
in reply to: Assumptions and Biases #37720Here in Michigan, crossbows are taking over. According to a friend who works in a relatively large and local archery shop, from July on, for every compound sold, there are ten crossbows sold. You can see it when you go to any archery shop/department. They’re eating up more and more of the archery section. It’s very disheartening. I despise the fact that crossbows are allowed in archery season, and I’m sure it’s going to eventually result in a shortening of archery season. As a result, seeing someone with a compound comes as a relief. 😥
in reply to: Eye Glasses for Archery? #36941Steve Graf wrote: So shooting with glasses is a continual struggle. I find the nose piece is prone to block my dominant eye as I try to look down the arrow…
Anybody find a good pair glasses that doesn’t affect their shooting?
Or alternatively, a good compensation strategy?
Remarkably, my vision has actually improved so much that I no longer “need” glasses. With that said, when I was wearing them, I’d push the nose piece(s) in so that they were quite tight against my face. They were a bit more prone to fog, but I didn’t have the issue mentioned above any longer. Of course, this will not work for all frame styles.
in reply to: Finally getting a leg up on target panic! #36892I, for one, still constantly battle my nemesis, target panic. I’ve read the book mentioned above as well. Sometimes I manage, other times it’s all I can do not to wrap my bow around a tree, out of complete frustration. This thread reminded of my thread from FIVE YEARS AGO! 😯 Blows my mind!
in reply to: Binos in Forested Areas #36731paleoman wrote: I’ve never used them much in the eastern woodlands. I’m mostly a nomadic sitter. I’ll sit somewhere if I feel it is promising, move on if it’s slow or my intuition says so. That said, for the in-between movements, I wonder if they are worth it. I can stalk, and do it well, but frankly it’s an enormous test of patience to get w/i trad bow range on a crunchy carpet of late October leaves and buried sticks and twigs. Has anyone had much luck with them at bow ranges in forested areas?
It doesn’t matter where I’m hunting, or how I’m hunting, I always carry my binocs. Well, unless I forget them. 😕
in reply to: thoughtful reading #36724I’m only being literal for comedy’s sake. Not to imply anyone else would think it was funny. Don’t take any of it seriously. 😉
I’ve eliminated some time wasting activities, so I should be able to stick around this time. 😉
And I’m loving the headgear!

I like it!
in reply to: thoughtful reading #36519I think the bear, golden eagle, lion, shark, etcetera, would argue that hunting doesn’t make one human. Maybe it should be, “Does human make us (me and Joe) hunting?” 😆
in reply to: Please post Kzoo pics here! #56270Thanks guys! I’ll do my best to stay around this time, and even more so, get back to my shooting and hunting routine. Last year was a hell of a year! I sure miss “hanging out” with you all.
