Defiantly Trad. But I don’t have to clean my long bow. Oh what a mess. congrats.

Oh yeah, the cleaning is a nightmare:D
I kind of don’ t mind the cleaning and even find it relaxing! Just give yourself enough time to do it right. There’s satisfaction in there for some of us:)
in reply to: Have You Gotten Lost? #43868You’ ve never been “turned around” even once? Sorry if the subject hit a nerve or something.
in reply to: Primitive Rifle Kill, Okay to Post??? #43784Ok to post by me! Very nice buck and I love flintlocks too.
in reply to: Nothing is wasted … #37093Wow, that is a thrilling pic. We’ve had a cat or two in Michigan but their litter boxes aren’t common enough to say they’re resident cats:)
in reply to: Your Dream Hunt #34420A couple hunts in northern Maine in the 80s with people now gone were a couple of the best. Big bodied northern bucks with tracks in the snow larger than I’ve seen to this day. What classic northeastern hunting was. If I could recreate that, that’s my Dream Hunt.
in reply to: "The Good Hunt" update #33349Poor lonely post:wink: Don’t ask me why but I thought of Stephen Hawking reading through this. The way he at least publicly challenges non critical orthodoxy on the way things are. Whatever I’m aiming at is complimentary:)!
in reply to: It's a good day… #33341I hunted the Adirondacks back in the 80’s. Blue Mt. Wilderness area out near Lake Durant and the Indian Lake area. Loved it! You have every reason to share the joy. Have a great time!
in reply to: Scent proof? #28692I’ve worn the Bean type boots for years also and while I’m considerate of scent issues, I don’t get OCD about it. You do have to care for those leather uppers though and I’ve always used sno seal. I let them cure outside for a few days before wearing them. The stuff does smell, at least when you apply it. What else is good and less smelly on leather?
in reply to: Old recordings of Curt Gowdy and Fred Bear #28373I really enjoyed them too. Thanks for posting them!
in reply to: Base Layers #27458Wool wool wool!! I second third and fourth that… Me, I wear at least 2 layers that fit a bit loose to trap the warm air. I’ve been pretty comfortable so far with Duofold longjohns, a wool “commando” type sweater, a wool jac-shirt over that and then my larger, heavier wool “battle” coat over that, and of course wool pants and hat/facemask. Pack them in too and dress near your spot or you’ll be paddling in your own sweat. And hopefully you’ll have somewhere to dry it all out if it gets wet. Shoot with all that on too to be sure you won’t catch anything with your bowstring.
in reply to: Cold this morning #27436Me too. I wore a couple layers of wool in the tree last evening. You can’t beat it for anything and quiet too. No hunting for me today – has been raining buckets since before dawn. Looks like we are going to make up some ground for the summers’ drought this weekend!
