in reply to: Nugent gets karma-lized! #50015A lot of “other stuff” is bleeding into this thread. I think it could spawn several others. Ted Nugent broke the law and deserves to be punished no one should abdicate their responsibility to know the law where they are hunting. If this serves to reinforce this fact for everyone then something good has come from Mr. Nugent’s wrongdoings.
in reply to: For those who love Footed Arrows #59870Really nice shaft. Do you have contact info for Great Basin Footed Shaft?

in reply to: Kansas: What Counties #18142I live in North Central Kansas (near Glen Elder) but grew up in Manhattan. I agree with Huckbuck, all counties of the state could harbor good deer so it really depends on the habitat you want to hunt. North East Kansas will look a lot like Tennessee. The South East has the highest deer densities. South Central to South West Kansas is where many (but not all) of the outfitters you see on TV operate. North Central and North West Kansas have good deer but the habitat is more open and there are Mulies mixed in with the Whitetails. And far in the South West there are fewer deer but still good bucks show up occasionally. Don’t be fooled by all the hype though good deer take work here just like anywhere else. Hope this helps

in reply to: Elephant with a bow #57382I was just reading this months issue and noticed that there is a picture of Dennis Kamstra in the classic successful elephant hunter pose between two tusks… anyone know anything about it?
Lucasin reply to: End of the Trail for 2009 #56328Glad you had a good season.
Lucasin reply to: Elephant with a bow #56311There have been several elephants taken with traditional equipment. Several of the successful attempts that I have read about seem to include shots angling forward through the liver this shot minimizes the chance of hitting a rib. Robert Eastman who shot the heaviest ivoried bull by bow did this. There is a long tracking job that follows as elephants have a lot of blood. There are also accounts of arrows going through ribs Tink Nathan comes to mind. With the improvements in equipment and general understanding of penetration available I see no reason why you couldn’t harvest an elephant with your bow. I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor

Lucasin reply to: short bows #45444Anyone have any pictures of Niel Tarbell’s supper shoort bows from the late 50’s to the early 60’s. I think some of these bows were made close to 40 inches! I would love to see some…
