great finds
we have found 13 so far this season, but with the recent snow will most likely not find any more till late March when some melting occurs. my wife is ahead of me 10 to 3 this year!
in reply to: The Werewolf #59060when will they be available on the web site to buy?
in reply to: A Trad article I wrote…. #59057congrats on both bucks and the story. I especially like the part about “warning shots”. boy ain’t that the truth!
in reply to: "Auf wiedersehen, baby." #51985heck I thought the compound was a machine way back in 1985! There is an old duffer up in Michigan still bow hunting in his uppers 80’s . He says it looks to o much like something that fell off the tractor.
in reply to: Navajo Bows #49278Here is a good bird killed with a Navajo Apache. Great blind bows
in reply to: A&H ACS LONGBOWS #49258Its true , they are everything they are claimed to be. No hype. I hunted with a one pc for two seasons and a 3 pc for two more. I prefer the one piece over the three pc. But that’s just me. I was shooting a 42 lb 3 pc and it was every bit as fast as bows 5 to 10 lbs heavier. Great performance.
Here is a buck killed with a 3 pc ACS
here is another same season different state
in reply to: short longbow recommendation #42508Cascade Archery just came out this past fall with a short longbow and it apparently is getting good reviews. Also Hoots is making a short longbow, and there is also Big Jim’s Buffalo bow . they all seem to be very alike in design
in reply to: Kalamazoo Traditional Bowhunters Expo #38583WIcanner you and me both!
in reply to: Non-chinese Wool Shirts? #29058i have purchased woolen garments from Hidden Wolf in Wisc, their source is Bemidji Woolen Mills in Bemidji MN . you might also try Fred Asbell
in reply to: 40 pound draw weight for Deer #56230I have shoulder defects and have never been able to shoot heavy equip. Currently I am shooting a Cascade 42 # recurve at my draw . Both does i killed this year traveled less than 40 yards after arrow impact. Last years were killed with a 42 # longbow, same result. I did change broad heads last year. I switched from a 2 blade to a big three blade VPA 200 grain head.
i have also killed two caribou and one moose with light weight bows. ( moose was killed with a 47 lb ) close shots = clean kills
in reply to: Dressing Warm #55758i wear a one piece union type set of under wear. Followed by a second top piece only loose fitting under wear. Both must be good wickers. Then a wool shirt and wool pants. Then a wool sweater with wind stop liner, then a set of wool bibs followed by a wool out coat. A light balaclava m a thick neck warmer and a wool hat. A muff for my hands with a checmical warmer
Two tricks I learned long ago and that is to get a good large pack frame with a big bag. I carry all clothes that go over the first wool layer. I dress at the bottom of my tree. If I don’t get sweaty walking in I am good for three or perhaps four hours if the temp is not below 15 above . Any colder than that and its two hours at best.
the 2 second trick is to have 2 pouches with a chemical warmers on a shoulder strap. You wear one in front and one in back. At about breast bone and between your shoulder blades in between the sweater and wool shirt. This keeps your core warm on the coldest days.
I live in MN
in reply to: Micky's Fall freezer hunt video! #36683excellent fun!1 I really enjoyed that stalk!
in reply to: Turbulators #33489Personally I am not having a problem with game getting out of the way because they hear my arrow coming.
in reply to: cascade bows #33484the bow is drilled for a selway quiver, it came that way , its only thing about the bow I dont like. That quiver in the photo works really well on my longbow but I no longer shoot this bow with a quiver on it, it just feels better naked.
I too hope they dont do Avatar II, thie first one was just too good!
