in reply to: Great Ohio Rabbit Hunt 2011 #17836
Hope you can make it Buzzard. Looks like the weather is gonna cooperate. I would rather have a little snow on the ground but I wont complain.
in reply to: Great Ohio Rabbit Hunt 2011 #11692It’s fast approaching. If you miss this one you’ll have to wait 2 years for the next one. Jackson, Ohio baby! Camping, shooting, bunny hunting, good grub and the weather man is saying it will be mild.
in reply to: muck boots #22662I have been using Mucks this year and so far the best boot I have used so far. Easy on and off and they do fairly well in really cold temps but I usually use toe warmers when it gets real cold and just about any boot will do with warmers. I like em.
in reply to: Top 5 Bows #10872Two of my favorite bowyers are going to heaven with me so I’m hooked up!!
Tracy Trickett and Jim Jones.
in reply to: Should Traditional bowhunting be more mainstream? #10867Duncan said it for me way back there. I think TBM is the best printed voice for traditional bowhunting out there. The various forums on the web do a good job at being “mainstream” but that is what technology does. If you think about it TBM is kinds archaic and out of date that way. It’s still printed.:D
in reply to: 1ST TRAD KILL!!! #10856Feel good for ya man. Congrats.
in reply to: Recurve or longbow your choice and why? #27818I am pretty much sold on the recurve. Mine is 64″ long so it is as long as most longbows. It’s a Tree’s Custom Shadowhawk and I think I have found my “soul-mate” bow with this one.
in reply to: Finally some idot used one to snipe off a person #18663In Columbus, Ohio several years ago in a fit of road rage a guy pulled a crossbow out of his trunk and shot a guy in the chest and killed him.
in reply to: Can you twist a flemish string too many times? #44930Twist it up. There are some guys who sat a string tisted a lot feels rubbery. I say bull hockey. Doesnt hurt a thing
in reply to: delaware crossbows proposals #21145I live in Ohio fellas this is old news. As you can see states are crumbling one by one. IMO the battle has been lost. Crossbows coming to a state near you.
in reply to: eye dominant issue #22375You might find you can shoot with both hands. I knew a fella a while back that had a custom bow made with a shelf on both sides. He could shoot good either way. Talk about an advantage.
in reply to: Heavy Bows – Are they now a part of our past #20069I use to shoot a heavier bow untill I broke my left shoulder in a motorcycle accident. I shoot 55-60 pounds and have been contemplating going to 50. I shot a 40# Chaparral kaibab when I was rehabbing. I nailed a rabbit in the head at 10 yards and it devastated it. I dont shoot better with a lighter bow. In fact I have a hard time getting a good release. I wish I could get back to 70-80 pounds but I dont think my shoulder will let me.
in reply to: For those of you that hunt with wood arrows #19282“Why do we–TRADITIONAL bowhunters, of all people–keep inventing problems just so we can solve them?” Don
That’s a good quote right there.
in reply to: New recurve or limbs #29115There ae classifieds here on this site and at http://www.tradgang.com. The tradgang site’s classifieds gets allot of action. You might get lucky and find one on ebay also.
in reply to: The 2 Feathered Arrow #62649A few years back I had some cocobolo footed cedars that I finished natural and fletched with 2 natural 5 1/2″ shield cut feathers with a yellow nock. Some of the best looking and flying woodies I ever shot. I loaded them with Zephyr heads and killed 2 deer with those arrows out of a Sovereign Ballistik recurve I wish I still had. I eventually put 2 other feathers on them to make em 4 fletch and they did not fly the same. They are sitting in the arrow rack now.
