On the cell phone thing… I once had a catbird figure out how to copy my cell phone ring. Was a bitch till I figured it out and changed the ring. Dam bird rang at the worst times. Guy can’t even take a leak…
On the deer population… Doe tags here in MASS are given out on a lottery basis, within regions. There none available outside suburban Boston. So you can get as many doe tags you want as long as you use them on Boston Common. On the other hand if you try to hunt in suburbia Bambi’s friends will be chasing you with a baseball bat. Same people that complained about their shrubs being eaten.
On a lighter note… Dam near froze my azz off this morning, 2 weeks ago the leaves were green, and the girls were wearing shorts. Now most of the leaves are on the ground (Oaks are the last to fall) and it really is COLD out there (20s). All I saw was 2 scrapes. First of the season it is nice to know that things are progressing, and there actually IS a buck out there. Not serious scrapes, just a little extra testosterone.
Buck probably wondered off thinking “Why did I do that?”

Audrey says you look like me in that camo face mask. Got a big white mustash under there?
in reply to: What ya got goin? #9571Deer season starts tomorrow here. I’ll be at work, but be out on Wednesday (when we will have record high temps). There are no scrapes or rubs…yet.
I have a question. In past years I have seen lots of scrapes and rubs, but all of the scrapes are at farmer Jim’s, and all of the rubs are at Wortleberry Hill. They are about 10 miles from each other. Can anybody tell me why.
Actually in some areas at Wortleberry Hill every hemlock you find is rubbed (why only hemlocks?). Even the hemlocks too big to rub have scars from previous years. And at Farmer Jim’s the scraps surround the hay fields… I just look for a overhanging branch and there will be a scrape (unfortunately these are the small rubs that are made and visited only at night).

in reply to: HUNTING BUDDY #9120Heard all about Jack this week???? and a few other middle school boys.
Nice that she is willing to share. This is precious.
in reply to: Why do you hunt? #48135A bad day bow hunting is better than a good day at work.
Aside from that I have to say it is fun, and avoid analysis.
in reply to: Discouragement, not anymore! #59119The most important thing you said is that you laughed at yourself. That is special… Really Special.
in reply to: Hunting 2016 #59092At least you didn’t fall out of the tree, or mess your diaper.

I did some of the most important prep work for the deer season.
Mowed the lawn and changed the oil in the car. Lot easier to sit in the deer woods without guilt.
in reply to: HUNTING BUDDY #47354Decided long ago there is no such thing as everyday life. After a few imminent death experiences you treasure every moment, and find meaning in every moment.
in reply to: Fletching Glue Quandry #42835Just had to refletch an arrow where I used the tape… Managed to just peel it off. 😀
in reply to: HUNTING BUDDY #36053I’m the one with the white mustache.
in reply to: Discouragement #14146Doing better than I am. Hunted 2 years and didn’t get a shot. Saw deer, was close to deer, but too much cover for a shot.
This is going to be my year, know far more about the deer due to the two trail cams I keep moving around. They have tought me more than all of the books and videos.
