in reply to: beginner bow #46531
Hi Alex,
Thank you. I did take a look at one of those online. I’ve read only good things about them, so that just might be the pick. Appreciated. dwc
in reply to: Noisy Recurve #46418Smithy, pretty funny. I started back into shooting with my old Wasp. I had stuff all over the bow to try to get it quiet and it was never as quiet as my longbow, except when I’m making a bad release! dwc
in reply to: A day in the woods…At last! #46023Hi Alex,
Great views and great shots! Good to see you out there. I’m glad you are busy with work, too. Yep, I love that truck. When I bought my house I also bought a used Nissan 4wd for hauling firewood. That was my mid-life crisis car! The truck is gone, unfortunately, but the spirit lives. peace, dwc
in reply to: beginner bow #46018jpc, I thought probably, but I figured I’d clarify that! I’m really happy to see her interest. My kids are having fun with it and so she wants to join in, too. thanks! d
in reply to: beginner bow #45870Key word in our lives is inexpensive. If I bought an pricey bow she’d have a fit! She just wants to see if it’s something she’s really interested in.
Thanks for the input. I’ll do a quick search for a Colt.
Thanks! dwc
in reply to: The "Form" Thread #45357This is a good thread. Thanks to Smith, R2 & Arne. I’ll try to do one, too, and post it. I know I can use the help! best, dwc
in reply to: Now I've seen everything. And I'm disgusted #45183The funny thing about these is, as anyone who hunts with a rifle or handguns knows, you still have to hit the deer where it counts. If you can do that, there’s no “advantage” to using these crazy things. dwc
in reply to: The way to practice a perfect shot #42598Nice video, Steve. I enjoyed watching it. In its indirect way, it has plenty to do with our traditional archery for hunters. thanks, dwc
in reply to: We may be experiencing some turbulence… #32796Smithy, Nice shooting! I don’t know if I’ll ever get that consistent. Very nice, dwc
in reply to: Cutting parabolics into shields? #32694Sure can. I’ve done it to make shorter feathers and I’ve done it because they were the ones on sale. dwc
in reply to: Champion among us #32633Congratulations! Did anyone make any videos of the shoots? dwc
Paleo,
Man, you got some great hits on this thread. I don’t have much to add, but wanted to offer encouragement. I’m lucky in that I don’t have any serious weight problem, but as I get older it gets tougher. I quit drinking about 7 months ago, but then I doubled up on the cookies. With a suggestion from a doc or two and the urging of my wife, I really cut back on wheat. I still have a cookie or two, but cut way back on bread. We eat oatmeal with nuts and fruit for breakfast instead of toast. I also try to walk at a good pace for half an hour in the morning. It’s all adapting, so give yourself some slack and stick with it. It’ll come to you as you work on it. best, dwc
in reply to: New tor Bows #32626Depending on where you live, you can probably find a good bowyer within a couple hours drive. The advice above is the best. Have fun and enjoy. Remember, you will probably have good days and bad days, so just hang in there with it and keep you expectations realistic. When it’s not fun, just take a walk and come back to it. best, dwc
Tai Chi is terrific… as I remember. I did some long ago, but the classes ended up conflicting with some other things. It’s a great work out for your legs, balance and breathing. You might be surprised how sore your quads get from moving so slow. I would recommend a class if you can swing it. It’s good to get the personal attention. Like other things around here, form is everything. dwc
