Yes, I forget some of you own a room full of bows. I suppose I own more than I can use at one time, too. I also suppose if I had the cash I’d own more bows, too! Nice work. Take a photo of your grips when you get a chance, dwc

Very nice. It’s fun to put together things you’ll use. Looks like about six lifetimes worth there, dwc

          Hi Paleo,

I’m sad to hear about your ash trees. I friend in Mass. is loosing his. He’s cut many for firewood and lumber as to get some value out of them. I have a few on my property and they are still doing well. I want to watch them everyday to enjoy them. Enjoy your time in the woods, dwc

            Steve,

I have a SafariTuff and like it a lot. I use a lumbar pack and carry the quiver across my back. It works well. I’m pretty clumsy, so a bow quiver seems like more to catch on brush and stuff, so I want to keep the bow free. dwc

              Clay,

Fine response. I know I’m in the choir, but I have to chime in. I’ve only killed one deer with my bow, but many with rifles. The archery kill was far more peaceful, if you will, than pretty much any of the rifle shots. Unless the deer was spine shot, every deer shot with a rifle bolted and ran, even is only a short distance. The doe I killed with the bow continued to walk at the same pace and simply fell over. Comparatively speaking again, their was no damage to meat with the bow, just a slice through the heart, instead of a mass of destroyed “hamburger.”

Thanks for your good words, dwc

                I’m with Steve & Doc,

Each of us deals with the death of someone close in our own ways. It can take months or longer for a person to feel back on their feet. The bowyer was honest with you and he probably wants to work on your bow when he is in the right frame of mind. If he’s an artist, then he’s a sensitive person that needs to be left to do his best in his own way. dwc

Terrific! Enjoy carrying it in pursuit this season. Best, dwc

                    Hi Clad,

Glad you’re getting on track. I quickly tired of buying expensive foam targets to catch my broadheads. I made a fine target out of old magazines and catalogs in a cardboard box. Several wraps of shipping tape and you’re good to shoot. When the box gets torn up a bit, add some more tape. My Tuffheads only penetrate a couple of inched into the box, but stick in straight without drooping. I don’t shoot broadheads a whole lot, but I do shoot my hunting arrows with broadheads some before and during the season. This will be my third year for that cheap box target. best to you, dwc

                      Dave P,

I went to the Big A to see if your downloadable books would work on an iphone. I decided to read a few reviews before calling it a night and went directly to the one star reports. I can now lie down for the night with a smile on my kisser knowing we don’t all think alike… Keep em coming! peace, dwc

                            Jim,

Nice shooting. Great that you can hammer in there with two set-ups like that. Love the dog and the kiddie pool in the yard.

My bow is a Leon Stewart Slammer Special. I ran me Leon at a trad shoot in Northwest New Jersey some years ago and just loved his work. Turned out he is a real gentleman, knows his stuff and is very willing to share. He helped me into a really nice bow and helped me learn to shoot it better with a few simple reminders.

                            Thank you, david

Finally got a chance to listen to the entire interview. We’ll said in the face of some questions that might have been so clear. Thanks for putting a voice for so many of us out there, Dave. best, dwc

This thread reminds me a little of Smithhammer’s Assumptions and Biases… I love it.

Oh yeah, arrows.. me? I shoot carbons, just because I shoot them better than I was shooting wood. Maybe if I would have paid attention to my wood arrows as much as I do my carbons I would have done better with them. Maybe now that I’ve got a bit more practice under my belt I’d do better with them, too. Thing is, I’m only shooting one set-up for target, stumping and hunting. I really admire you guys that can pick up any bow and arrow and send them in there to the mark. best, dwc

You guys are fortunate to have two bows that shoot the same. My backup if I would call it that is my old Browning Wasp. It does not shoot the same arrows the same way, even though by Stewart Slammer R/D longbow is only rated one pound heavier. I keep thinking to tune a few arrows to the Wasp just for fun, but the budget of time or dollars has keep that project on the shelf. best, dwc
