Let me know what you think.Richie

That EFOC stuff is like Greek to me, or maybe I’m just resisting getting that meticulous, but I would guess the extra weight up front is making a difference. There are plenty of others on here better qualified to answer that than me. I hope some of them will weigh in.

I had some 50-60’s on hand since I was shooting 55 to 60 pounds. I’ve gone back to 45 to 50 pounds of late. Age catchin up with me I guess. Or too much desk time :(.
To answer your question my Predator is 50# at 28″ so I got some 45-50 spine POC and my 45 and 50 pound recurves like them better than the heavier spined arrows. (some of you are probably going “Duh” about now):Din reply to: Wood Arrow Build Along "Finished" #12886Beautiful work! Love the burn. 😀
in reply to: Bow Tuning #12731Finally got some good weather and time to piddle with my new Predator TD. Got some correct spine POC arrows and replaced the rug that came on the bow with Bear hair and leather plate. Braced it at 8 1/4″ and it shoots much better now!
in reply to: Hunting Public land #12722May be a rant Dave, but it’s the truth. Although, the size of my old stomping gtounds is small by comparison if you gain entry that no one else has it is wise to keep it secret.
As for ATV use the Wardens in my area are just as busy trying to catch people illegaly riding on public land that is clearly marked as foot traffic only. The ATV’s usually enter from private land.in reply to: Hunting Public land #12296Thanks Patrick, it’s vintage 1975 beaver felt.
in reply to: Hunting Public land #11719NC has 1000’s of acres of public land. 90% of the deer I have taken came from public land. Find the right access point and you will not see a soul, even during gun season.
NC has a variety of terrain from mountain to coastal low country and whitetail and black bear thrive in these environments. Like Steve says, find the food source and you find the deer or bear.Duncan

Spring squirrel season is a great idea. I don’t think people hunt them as much as in the past so it won’t hurt the population. I like the idea of hunting SQ’s while scouting turkey.
in reply to: Tred Barta Arrows #63630Never tried the Tred Barta arrows but they are probably equal to 3 rivers cedar arrows which I have tried and find to be very good in quality. Just ordered a dozen yestrday.
I picked up the Dec 2009 copy of Sport Fisherman Magazine a couple a days ago and turned to the back where Tred writes a column. At the end of the column he said the cancer treatment is working and his prognosis is good. The Doc says he will recover. However he is still in a wheelchair but he says that is not stopping him from shooting his bow and rifle and he is planning some hunting trips.

I use high banana cut fletch for small game and stump shooting. A little slower than regular fletching but not as slow as a flu flu. You could try a 4 fletch with banana cut.
in reply to: Let's build a selfbow #61552Clay,
Great work! I have enjoyed following along with your progress. Looks like you had plenty of helpers on this project.
