They only produced bows from 1959 and 1960. Apache Archery Co. of Malibu, California. The bowyers last name was Barr. They made a model called El Tigre (here) and two others that I know of. They were straight limbed with recurve ends, very ornate and having many inlays. Decent shooters. The finish was 1st generation Epoxy and was so thick you need dynamite to remove it for refinish.

Shakespeare has been producing fishing equipment since the late 1800’s.
In 1959 Shakespeare aquired Parabow Archery Inc. and begain the Shakespeare line of archery equipment. In 1967 Shakespeare aquired Root Archery which made great bows in their own right ala Ernie Root.

Root Archery had been a supplier to Shakespeare for a
number of years. Shakespeare closed their archery division in 1976.

In thatyear, Shakespeare was about to come out with a line of compound bows. Only proto-types were made. If you run across a Shakespeare compound bow, consider yourself lucky although not trad. Simply archery history.

                      At 50 i am mentaly still 25, Physically ….

I have to admit I have really enjoyed my wife’s cooking and pampering the last 20 plus years. Too much perhaps. I am 60 lbs overweight, but can still climb a tree like a monkey and drag a bucka few miles out of big woods. My lungs are a bit taxed with climbing and my BP and cholesterol are bad. The wheels are still sturdy.

To lose weight at our age is very hard as the metabolism is way slow. I have a real hard time making the right choice in food.

Beer/wings while watching football…or whole grain Sun chips and diet soda?…hmmm which would you choose?

I have a few “Kadiaks” made by the late PBS member Jim Emerson. From the late 70’s 80’s. His son JD is the founder of Ancient Spirit bows and resurrected the Kadiak. The Corn Flower bow was perhaps and early model he made. Good shooters from what i have experienced.
