in reply to: Who has been saved by a clicker? #60194
Thanks Steve. A little unclear on “target panic” as well.
When firearm hunting, I have always called this “buck fever” but that really refers to an inability to hold steady aim. Not sure that applies to failing to reach full draw length however…
What is there about target panic that prevents reaching the proper draw?
in reply to: Who has been saved by a clicker? #59869Been awhile since I was here…..hate to ask, but what is a “clicker”?
in reply to: My neck of the woods. #29008Fine lookin’ place you have there. Congrats on the nice kill too
in reply to: Wensel woodsman for elk #37969OK, thanks there MS. It’d be bad to be out there thinkin’ I was properly armed only to find out I was under-armed!:D
in reply to: Wensel woodsman for elk #37619So, Dave, I’m sorta new back into trad archery & bhing….I had some grizzley broadheads that I’d been totin’ around for years. Sharpened those up and put them on some cedar shafts for elk/deer hunting. In your opinion, do these past muster for the kind of broadheads you describe above?
in reply to: arrows "porpoising" #12663Duncan, I’m shooting off the shelf. The arrows I’ve had prior to this batch were built from shafts over 20 yrs old…I spent quite awhile away from archery…when I got going again, I built those from supplies I’d been carting around for a couple decades. Those arrows were bought from 3 rivers but I don’t know what spine weight they were. They did shoot fine however. After I used those up, I ordered the current batch from Rose City. So I guess I’ll have to do some comparison shooting with other weights. Don’t know of a club locally, but will nose around and see if I can find one.
BTW, I considered getting some tapered shafts from Wapiti Archery down in OR. But I already had these ordered when I found Wapiti. Thanks for the input.

For extra FOC,,,tapper the shaft.Sorry, you’ll have to help me here….FOC? Don’t know what that is. Thanks for your input.
in reply to: arrows "porpoising" #11982Yeah, my nock is right there, about 1/8″ above center. My brace height is supposed to be 7-3/4 to 8″ and I have it right at 8″. Can’t figure this out…
in reply to: fletching glue or tape? #10494Using a very thin and sharp knife I gently separate the pink backing from the actual adhesive,
That was the key, thanks. I was expecting the tape backing to separate w/o any effort…my mistake. Thanks again.
in reply to: fletching glue or tape? #8623OK, you’ve pointed out something here…using a sharp blade to carefully separate the adhesive & pink backing. I didn’t do that. Yes, I use a bitzenberger and it does usually take an hour for one arrow. A dozen done that way makes for a marathon day. Thanks for the tip. I’ll do it.
in reply to: Where do you get your tradional supplies from #57255Just bought some arrow building supplies from Rose City Archery. Orders over $35 – no ship charges. I like that.

Thanks Steve. That’s close to my home and the best price including cost (free) of shipping.
in reply to: ARE LONG SHOTS PUZZLING TO ALL?? #49575I don’t play golf, but this sounds a little like what I hear from friends that do. One day they’re on top of their game, another day nothing turns out right. Who knows for sure why? I remember this: Larry Byrd at one time was the all-time free throw “champ” in pro basketball. He said he owed it all to practice – every day, no matter what, 100 free throws. Every day. I imagine if you or I practice doing something 100 times every day, we’re gonna get pretty good at it. My 2 cents worth…
in reply to: What happened? Slump! #49566Have no idea what happened there friend. I ran into the same thing a couple weeks ago…but I had put a new string on my bow and had to break that in, reset brace height etc. (I’m just getting back into archery after several years away) You didn’t change anything on your bow did you? Maybe just some more perseverance is what’s needed. Let us know how it goes.
in reply to: Great target for stump shooting #49521This is a good idea. I will do that in the next couple days.
