in reply to: Historic bowhunter #44959
Amazing picture! It’s a bummer bowhunting is illegal in alot of europe cause that was the main reason I wanted to get stationed in Germany, just to find out it is illegal and the countries that provide legal bowhunting are expensive.

in reply to: Close Calls, etc. #56461The closet call I ever had was during squirrel season in Va. My friend and I were walking down a trail to a spot that was abundant with squirrels. It just so happened that deer season started and using dogs were legal. About 10 mins into our walk we heard three rounds go off and then a fourth just went whizzing over our head. My friend and I dove to the ground covering our head laying there motionless making sure we were ok. As we were about to get up two more shots went off from the same direction. We ended up low crawling for about 30 yards then left that part of the woods. That event has really made me question people that should be able to hunt!

in reply to: Donation to Active Duty Military #20715I am active duty stationed at Spangdahlem AB Germany. I have a bunch of friends that have started getting into archery (since they cant hunt in Germany with a bow never have time to achieve hunter safety course for rifle hunting due to long work hours being aircraft mechanics) and asking me questions even though im not the most knowledgable. It would be amazing to donate to active duty military members. I agree starting off with wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center or any other rehabilitation center as im sure they are at their lowest point in life. I have no problem donating a couple subscriptions!!!!
😀
in reply to: Last Colorado Grizzly #28223Wildschwein, now are the grizzly bears the same size as alaskan grizzlies or are they smaller like the colorado grizzly seems (according to the magazine the 1979 grizzly was around 450lbs if i remember correctly). im sure habitat and the abundance of prey is affecting their size? if not can someone enlighten me on the size difference.:?
in reply to: NY porkers make the news #26547It is also illegal to hunt with a bow here in Germany. That was the one major reason i tried to get stationed here. Alot of my friends have seen the boars (except me). I’ve been on a couple drive hunts, seeing the destruction that the boars cause and even found a skull with the rack from what the drive master called a gold medal trophy if i was to shoot it with a rifle (he was gracious enough to let me keep it and its antlers resemble a fallow deer). So after finding out i cant hunt with my bow i have endured the pain of my friends showing me pics of their rifle hunts and cant wait for February 2013 to come when i return to the states and continue my passion of hunting even though i havent killed anything in the six years ive been hunting.
in reply to: Virginia Beach #22118I was stationed at Langley AFB for seven years. Its about 30-40 minutes from Virginia beach depending on how far into virginia beach you live. I always went to Wilcox bait and tackle in newport news. its a nice mom and pop type shop in my opinion and they were always respectful and never tried to sell me the best thing on the market (they catered to my needs physically/financially). I also use to hunt in chickahominy WMA. I havent taken anything there but there is plenty of squirrel, seen plenty of people harvest deer out of there and heard turkeys gobble while squirrel hunting with my bow. i also have a cousin who is stationed at Langley and her and her husband go bowfishing for stingrays and gar in the James river. There is also a couple of WMA on the Isle of Wight right over the james river bridge. If you want i will ask my cousin and my friend who is still stationed at langley for info.
in reply to: Last Colorado Grizzly #22002Who knows if grizzlies still exist in colorado, it took over 20 years since the last grizzly in the 50’s to be spotted. Unfortunetly the grizzly had to be killed and yet thankfully Ed survived. If they do exist I’m happy that they have been able to be unseen, live quietly, but it would be nice if there is a verified spotting we could put them on the endagereed species list! The articles were amazing and i agree with Peterson about reintroducing grizzlies into colorado when i read the article that was recently posted. I’m sure their would also be issues and complaints just like when they reintroduced the wolf population into idaho (i believe that was the state)
. Thats just my opinion.
