      Hi Todd

Welcome to the forum… Congrats on your great trad bow hunting success this year. Well done. The Ben Pearson seems like a lucky bow for you … maybe it should be the one for turkey?

Sorry to hear about the new take down bow problems , hopefully the company will work it out in your favor. I am not familiar with that company or its bows, so can’t really give a realistic appraisal.  That being said ; how fast a bow flings an arrow is dependent on many variables  — materials, design, manufacturing process, string type ( as you mentioned)– etc. They may all say 50lbs on the limb ( sometimes that is a ” ball park” figure), but they don’t all shoot the same ( speed) as you have seen.

I too like takedowns and have two. They usually cost more than the std bow of the same model ( harder to build). You might look at bows made with the ILF ( International limb fitting system). Bowyers who make risers with this system give the archer a lot of options and are held to an excellent std.

Let us know how the turkey hunt goes , what state?

PS – you got a good deal on the Ben Pearson bow…

Great winter project.  I have a few of mine I need to check and bring back up to operational status.

What Richard said – I like the velcro myself, but the old bear type hair rests work fine. Don’t have a recurve with a crescent shelf, but have  a number of R/D longbows that do, they are padded with velcro or hair rests….

You bet anytime. Keep us in the know. If they are like the NM legislators they will try to slip it by on the side at the last minute….sad to say…

Outstanding and beautifully written letter . I’ll send my comments in.. I write to any of the states when these issues come up , as I have, and may hunt in them again as a non resident….

Yes , on hard to find middle ground anymore. Common sense isn’t common either…

                  Hi James

If you like the bow – try it. They all have to be tuned. Some are easier than others, but its all part of the Trad Journey. We here will help you thru the process if you run into difficulties…

                    Redz – Judo’s always a good choice …

Styx – way cool ” shade tree ” small game head.  I imagine it works pretty dang good.

I have not tried this myself, but…

You could place the quiver were you want it, than tape the slides. Not pretty but should work for hunting.

Obviously a good cart, lasting this long. They probably don’t make as sturdy these days.

I have thought about trying to build one,  but never seem to get around to it…got to be easier ( in some terrain) than hauling parts in the back pack.

Congrats again, great way to start the year….

I agree bear meat is great. I always render the fat into bear grease for my leather gear. Although if you use it on your boots , you will get some interesting reactions from your friends dogs — haha.

Which game cart did you use? Or did you make your own.

Sounds like the perfect do it yourself ” thrift ” target. It is even recyclable… excellent idea
