in reply to: Some Eratic Flight #30744
i am 15 been shooting a 60 lb longbow for 2 yrs,i 2 have this issue, after reading many books i find it is iether me or the arrow,i shoot great even impressed at a small traditional shoot.so,about38 percent of the time it is the arrow 62 percent of the time it is us,if it is us it could be nearly anything hand position, shoulder posision, back muscles off balance, fingers on string, but when it comes down to it me and you have something in common generally speaking we are both overbowed, like you i feel i draw the bow easily but after 25 shots not so much and if you feel pressure your bow weight will feel like it goes up 10 lb,this could be due to animals and getting nervous or people watching us,i dont suffer fromp people pressure but animals make my draw weight into 80 instead of 60,and i always forget to pick a spot,on animals witch i am news to killing with lead it doesnt bother me ,example hogs, however deer i have only killed 2 with lead 0 bow.my advice,i plan on getting a 45 lb recurve, whitch i have read is just as lethal on all north american big game so long as you have a medium weight arrow and decent head, second buy instinctive shooting by fred asbell,it helped me greatly.
in reply to: trad vs. compound #30655hey here is some hope i to am 15 the second 15 year old on here, and have the patience for traditional i think it will grow, but the compound will stay my mom shoots one and after a few hundred shots could hit a golfball 40 yards away, personally they are just to darn ugly for me i like curves and character
in reply to: Glad to land here. #30648when an animal is introduced to an area things happen good or bad, again and again i here people in wis and mi and mn etc etc etc, complain about even the idea of loose hogs being from louisiana i say deal with it the taste of pork is worth the damage witch i have seen countless times.deal with it.and no i dont live in the swamp just 15 minutes away, yes hogs hurt crops, introduce them to an area where there are no crops if they get to them use lead not cedar, they are bar none the easiest and funest big game animal to hunt, not to mention the tastiest.as for wolves the reason for no tags is the anties peta the devils who would have us chop our balls off become females and starve to death no offence ladies.wolves were in all the mountain states before we were and all the canadian touching states, years ago,but this is now they have been gone for years, the ones introduced are different, and will have a different affect on nature if it is bad,you dont have to put up with them on your land,i like archery a whole bunch but my 22 250 is pretty accurate 300 yards away, give the wolves a chance tho.
in reply to: How many bowyers? #30613there is only one thing better than shooting a bow you made and watching it hit where you were looking, the one thing better think about it.

in reply to: How well do you shoot #30567something i am mor news to the old peper plate i can everage 6 to 8, 25 to 30 yards, but can also put 9 out of 10 in a three inch group from 15 yards.but on some days i for some reason suck and i have to come in sit down and think of my form and whate i was doing wrong to screw up,after i think whate i could be doing wrong i can usually fix my problem.now do any of you have this horrendous problem.ps i am only 15 started out 3 years ago with i estamate to be a 38 lb honey locust self bow ,then a 50 lb oak bow whitch i had made, then i made the mistake and shot a laminate at bass pro,and well i was turning the pages of Tb the next morning and now shoot a 60 lb mystical robertson stykbow.
in reply to: wood types in mn #26408honey locust a thorn tree works fairly well find a strait one cut split pull of bark seal store for 6 months ,when dry you will see that the inner bark has dried,it is ti be the bows back try to find a log that the heart wood comes close the the inner bark as heartwood helps a lot.walnut also works as well as ash and black locust another type of thorn tree, cedar is another candidate but i know nothing about cedar.
