Old shoulder injury has kept me from using the 50# Elkhart too for a couple of weeks–broke out the 35# grizzly recurve– Easton trad 600-30″ 50gr insert, arrow weight 260 then I added a 300gr field point total weight 560 and 27% EFOC. First shot at 20 yds 5″ low then the ole neuron computer kicked in and next were on the mark. They flew like a slow sabot and penetrated 5″ more then the same arrow with a 200gr point.

Dr. Ed’s work is right on. Tomorrow I get to try the carbon express with the 225 tuffhead–total weight 748gr and 25% EFOC–of course that will be with Elkheart too 😀

Wow what a story–Don Thomas, Dave Petersen watch out this guy tells it like is. Darn near fell off the edge of my camp stool. I’m not a trophy guy but that spread must be a P&Y record. Can’t wait to hear about the pack out–what pack frame did you use?

Yes I thinks she probably starts hovering over the delete key when she sees we are both online. Couldn’t log on to this site for last 24 hours so sent her a note this morning asking if I had done something to offend–turns out it was our confuser–but I did detect a note of glee in Robins reponse:D

Book and CD in mail tomorrow my friend.

No summer runs–we start training in the fall temps at 50 although we have done some short runs at 60 but need low humidity and cloud cover. They run best at 0 to -10:D

Once again David puts the point in the center of the issue. Check out Mr. Krause’s book “Notes from the Wild” includes CD. The CD is best listened to outside on a moonless night–the recording of the Jaguar will send chills up your spine. Read somewhere recently that the areas he recorded in from 68–96—don’t quote me on this–60% are no longer wild.

                Criminal IMHO.

Hitting one on the outside of the trail is OK–Well sometimes–it’s those on the inside that really hurt. Particularly when we are running sleds they are made of wood (traditional, we don’t use the carbon aluminum modern sleds). We actually don’t worry about the rig, important thing is keep the dogs from hitting a tree or bush. In 10 years we haven’t injured a dog or guest on the trail. That’s a record we are proud of.

Why don’t you come check it out–special rates for family and friends and members of Trad.Bow–free. Come join us for a training run. This year we are only running tours 2 weekends a month vise 5 days a week–I’m getting old and tired. If anyone is interested check our website and give us at least 2 weeks notice.

I walked upstairs yesterday after you posted and said to Linda when you go down you got to watch that one Aussie Jim posted on bear attacks–she looks at me and says well it’s all over face book and I’m watching it now–seems your wife’s friend is an instant celebrity–I’m thinking you can milk a trip here out of that–kinda the down under friends of our local TV idiot–think you would be a hit on Leno–wish we had TV to watch it:D

                          in reply to: Boots #54974

                          Preston

Well I am not a doctor or anatomical expert–but from my research and experience (32 years of humping heavy loads in stupid boots) forget all that stuff about ankle support. Your body evolved to carry moderate loads over difficult terrain—barefoot! Any sense of support you feel from leather uppers is wishful thinking. So try this–WWW.mukluks.com. I use the Yukon for cold dry conditions for wet you want the ones with the camo upper and rubber coating on the moose hide. I have both and wear them from 32deg. to minus 40 (aw not here different life) yes they are a bit pricey –well not really, my first pair of the Yukon worn daily lasted 6 years and they are only a few $ more then the bean. Milder then 32 I wear the moccasins on the same site (Apache model). They all have rubber soles so no scent. Have a pair of the bean boots and tried them again this year based on all that was said about them–I find them very restricting and that heel is a bother for stalking.

Wearing the mukluks is trad. and they are lighter then my barefoot running shows–that Linda makes me wear in polite society. Haven’t worn a pair of real shoes or boots in 10 year–you will be surprised at the sensitivity these give you and another upside is your sense of balance improves dramatically. Follow the sizing info on the site any ? give them a call. These boots crossed Antarctica on Will Stegers first and only dog sledding expedition across that continent. Don’t get much better then that.

Hey thanks again for that link to cybertracker just down loaded the books and logging off to start reading:D

edit note–Patty changed the name of the Apache to the Tracker moccasin which is a great description of what I use it for

Sorry folks time to sign off– major front about 30min out stretches from the great lakes all the way to the TN border–can’t wait for it to hit our mountain and ridges to our west. Time to shut down electronics.

Well I think the important point is that she has connected with what we all were some few thousands of years ago–shower, pretty hair, camera and all–don’t you all wish it were you?

Some time ago there was another video on u-tube–The Great Dance–all about the I!Kung and it documented a hunt where they ran a kudo to exhaustion in the heat of the day. Can’t find that anymore because of copyright issues, and the movie version is expensive. Followed by the book–The Art of Tracking–The birth of Science–out of print but supposed to be released again like last year:x The point of all that is I suppose–really interesting stuff -one of those bucket list items to visit a vanishing life style–yet so important to our species and worldview.

But I gotta admit she really looks better then I did returning from a 62 day patrol with some folks down in Central Am.

Dave thanks for posting the link–good stuff:D
