in reply to: I draw the line way, way before helicopters #16806
I have to agree with Charlie on this. I have flown in and boated in and trucked in but miles from the prey. The juxtaposition of a helio and long bow just doesn’t add up in my brain. Unless your using them to get you in where the prey shoots back and I certainly was not carrying a long bow nor looking at the helicopter.
I would not classify it as “fair chase”. Just my humble opinion.

Here is another that I just discovered, “Shadow of the Hunter” Richard Nelson. Not trad bow but an amazing collection of stories that follow a group of hunters and their families through the cycle of an arctic year. Nelson spent a year with the Tareogmiut, or “people of the sea”. Published 1980 and available on Amazon.
Enjoy.

Great reads and reference. I have to admit that I was a bit confused by Bruce’s question–which 100 years war–15th,16th,–19th or the one we just finished 20th century–well, at least we are only into the 15th year of the next 100years war:evil: Any hope that we might eventually learn a darn thing?
Sorry mom–shot the bow today:D

Figured you would be using a dog team . Now that would be a great story for TBM.

You enjoy that solo hunt–a good bourbon or scotch around the fire at night and you don’t need company–just converse with all those memories. We spent a winter season in the UP back in 03 learning the business at a big kennel, man that Hiawatha national forest is about the most confusing area I have been in–flat, lots of the same trees—take a good compass:D:D.
Don’t forget to give us a report and good hunting.

Well done. That was the best roundup on this sordid incident I’ve read. And your last thoughts were right on. Problem is all who read it here will agree–we need to get that fine letter out to the other “hunters”. Any ideas?

in reply to: Elk Hearts movie #26200The initial distribution was to those who contributed. My understanding from David is that once it completes the film festival circuit it will be available on his website.
Will confirm that with him tomorrow and try to get a timeline for you all.

I have the same issue with my fanny pack particularly when it’s loaded—solution–get one of those thick pair of suspenders from carhart or tractor supply–clip them on and bingo I have the same thing I used to wear on active duty. Transfers the weight to shoulders and you can even just snug the belt so your hips take some of the load.
in reply to: Clay's Gate #23934Good read. Better was the trailer to his next film “Ascent” don’t miss that and the opportunity to support.:D
