in reply to: New vids on woodsmanship, etc. #28868
Clay–This got me thinking:roll:. I thought I had posted this site http://WWW.cybertracker.org before but a search showed nothing therefore, you and BHA may want to check it out. Not only does it have awesome videos of persistence hunts and two great books for free download, Dr. Liebenberg has developed hardware and software that to my small brain would be a great asset to not only your profession but to all who can gather data in the field for scientific research. As I read the site it’s free to certain type organizations. Worth a look if you don’t know about it.

in reply to: New vids on woodsmanship, etc. #28837Clay—great video and great idea. How will they package them—as a DVD or short takes like this on BHA website?
Love it, reminds me of the old poncho never did keep you dry but the illusion helped:shock:.

in reply to: Canting the bow #22219OK–my 2 cents
What Bruce said and Paleo—it boils down to we are each individuals and hunting shots are unlike the range– they are all different. Cant or not—well it depends.
I think Fred A’s primary point is not bending the knees or canting–his focus is —the target. Concentrate on that, practice the fundamental’s and you will hit what you are looking at.
If you are seeing the arrow or fletching in your peripheral vision you are NOT focused on the target. Sorry Jim.
When I taught instinctive shooting to the door kickers we took the sights off their rifles and pistols–ranges out to 10meters for the .45 and 100m for the rifle–concentrate on the target mount the weapon the same every time and shoot. Of course we started with a BB gun saves a lot of money.
Jim will answer your pm tomorrow its been a long day with two bus tours of 100 folks.

in reply to: wool or camo? #13446Troy–right on, except for that new pair I just bought–you and I could be homeless together8).
Bruce–as usual brings us all back to what is important–terrain, weather, and your local. We have to adjust to that and our pocket books. I think though that Mr Fred started the camo thing because it became available as war surplus–and it looked neat. Don’t forget that we won WW11, Korea, and fought most of Vietnam without camo–except for the “elite” units.
And Jim–trying to figure out why the U.S. services select their camo patterns is a discussion we should have on the other e-mail–it ain’t trad but it is money.
Again–it boils down to your location and circumstances. But it does get a lot of great discussion going and we all learn from that–I trust.:D
Good Hunting

in reply to: wool or camo? #13366Check out 3 Rivers new catalog–First lite wool pant. Brown or if you like camo. Bit pricey–but I bit the arrow and got a pair of the brown ones. Out today for a test run–started at +60 down to 40 later, wind and some rain. As advertised they were perfect–after years of searching for a lite weight wool paint for warm conditions that with a layer of fleece under will likely serve through the coldest. Backed up with one of Teresa Asbell’s zip hood jackets I’m ready for the weather. I’m almost tempted to buy another of each to run dogs with this season.
Good hunting to all 😀

Welcome aboard! Great sight and great folks. Be careful when you ask for advice as you will get a lot–all of it good—then you have to figure out how much of it you can afford:D. Having said that–I have learned that it’s best to ask before you purchase anything.
I’m in W.MD not far from you.
