Clay if you need postage let me know will be glad to donate, can’t wait to see it.
Haven’t seen Forager on the site for a bit –but let me know if the tour can visit W MD a very few trad folks here lots of ATV’s and well you know—but perhaps the education may help.
Let me know if I can assist. Having said that and I figure you all know this, perhaps ETAR, would be the best venue for the east? Any who standing by to assist.

Yep as the eyes age we need all the help we can get without techno stuff. Jason’s stuff is a hoot he is so animated in his presentation that you just have to laugh and get involved. My only issue with his video is that his deer kill is ? ruined by a coyote–sorry I don’t buy that. The coyotes were doing their job and the hunter failed at his–IMHO:D
No offense Jason just this Marines view.
But then that’s what’s neat about this site you post it your gonna get comments and they aren’t abusive just another opinion.
Almost time for turkey and Spring?

in reply to: Just waiting around….. #61139WVSTICKMAN wrote: I ordered my first longbow 2 months ago. So that’s 2 months down and 4 to go. I never thought at 37 I would be waiting around like a kid for Christmas morning. Lol. I have a recurve that I can shoot till it arrives so that eases the pain some. I have been bowhunting for 25 years and this will be my first with traditional equipment. I feel the joy I used to feel as a young teen now every time I draw that string back with that cedar shaft attached to it. It’s a feeling that I missed. 😆
WV–I took a 45year hiatus from hunting due to work. Got back 3 years ago thanks to Elkheart and now have two long bows—and that kid at christmas morning feeling hasn’t left this ole Marine yet. Enjoy it. Where in WV are you? Perhaps close enough to do some stump busting together.
Enjoy

Well said I couldn’t agree more. My time in AK and Canada without the howl would have been diminished.
As Fallguy said–well your ATV under the tree may be why the deer avoid you.
Hunting here in the east is, I think ,somewhat diminished because the only competition we have out there is a coyote (when they are not relentlessly destroyed) an occasional black bear, and rumor has it a cougar or so.

Of course everyone has their opinion, I think habitat protection is first priority and then let nature take it’s obvious wonderful steps. But human war on predators is not it.
What is wild without creatures that kill and eat as we do
sans the supermarket?

in reply to: Spring fever #59918Steve
Welcome back. Trust all is well on the way to full recovery.
However I think you all are going to get the majority of the system that’s going to hit us tonight. Spring has not yet sprung for us out east.

Awesome idea for the bathroom–do it –last time Lin asked me to do that I painted it in red and gold (Marine colors) and hung all my plaques and stuff on the walls–Like Steve I have never been allowed to paint inside again8)
Oh yeah I crowded my caribou antlers in, hanging from the ceiling 😆
I’m just allowed to wash dishes now and shoot my bow:D

in reply to: Winter Critter Damage? #59884Scott
Great avatar photo very fitting:D. We have so many critters here that damage is just part of it –except for my wife’s ongoing battle with the squirrels and raiding the bird feeder:):lol:lol:
Spring almost here–the turkey’s are back and bears out of their dens, saw two yesterday. Today while running a tour with two guests on our wheeled rig+ 13 dogs in front 3 turkey crossed the trail–Gunny in single lead alerted then went back to his job–all the other dogs are looking at the birds but Gunny pulled them forward down the trail. Proud of his performance. Now that could have been some damage:shock:.
For those of you here abouts winter ain’t over yet cold tomorrow and some snow possible. Darn tired of it.

in reply to: brace height problems? #57631Great advice I have a couple of shafts marked for brace height but then when you start marking them for FOC and as you start changing weight up front it can get confusing so then you start marking for 300 up to 400 up front and that is a lot of marks:shock: But it is fun! Best to spread your marks out on the arrows and make notes as to what each means otherwise you are probably changing total weight with all that ink:D Again as the dumb grunt take good notes.

in reply to: string wear #57626Beginner answer again–but 3 rivers sells a knock rule that you simple measure your string with at the knock point then heat your knock in water and insert the other side and it fits for the tap finger release. Simple enough that this dumb grunt could figure it out and it works.:D

I actually think he has taken it beyond honing the point. I mean that article was clearly a single bevel broad head straight to the heart IMHO:D
Dave
Not sure you need new ideas to torture us with just continue that honing process. Although if your receptive here’s one.
Yes we all know that hunting made us human and the ancient’s being small in number and never having a thought about conservation–they didn’t have to they just hunted to eat. Today the dichotomy is kill for the trophy and you need all this tech gear to do it because you are to stupid to be a Hammer or R2 or doc nock or paleo or clay, you get the point.
However that wealth of food is no longer there and how do we re-educate the youngsters that the traditional way is better then just killing, That the outdoor, woodsmen skills are what’s important.
Not sure I said that very well but I hope you will get the drift.

in reply to: FASHION SHOW #47773Darn you guys are to much where do you get those pictures?
I really like Paleo and his success.
Jim–on a serious note thanks for your remembrance of Bill Guarnere. I had the pleasure of hosting him in Quantico with a few of the Band of Brothers back in the late 90’s as I recall. We hoisted a few:D–He picked on me as the oldest person at that time 1990 to graduate from Ft. Benning Jump school as a 42 yr old Lt.Col. By then I had 10 jumps and I asked –so Bill how many do you have–oh 5 to qualify and then Normandy, Holland, and one more in Germany–yep I bought the next round for all.:D
